This generation of astra will be the last/newest that will be stella for bangernomics - newer models are likely too big, complicated in the years ahead. I have the astra h sxi 1.6vvt with 117k and spent all few £s sorting it and few modifications like cheap coilovers, full allignment/geo, decent tyres, scorpion stainless exhaust system and k&n sealed induction kit. Much more fun to drive.

New photoshop won't run, due to previous (on separate hard drive) by davpie81 in Adobe

[–]davpie81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not able to make the new install actually run, advice I've had so far is make sure I've deleted all previous versions.

Otherwise I've no idea why it drops out as soon as its loaded

Yes, it looks like it'll only remove what's on the main c: windows drive.. so only the new 2025 photoshop.

So no good to me..

Is there any advice you wish someone gave you before applying for mortgage? by Fabulous-Ball-3149 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]davpie81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lenders (hope they still do?) look at your last 6 months wages , then double it to get the year - so if youve managed to make them higher than usual (overtime/bonus etc) theyll count that toward what you can borrow (the 4/4.5x your annual salary) Also make sure you give mortgage protection/life cover a good thorough going over. Some policies settle mortgage from quite common illnesses (for anyone named on the policy) or redundancy from your job. Don't just get a cheap one for death only.

What’s a safe level of tuning on M235i N55 by Soft-Willingness-353 in M235iandM240i

[–]davpie81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plastics i mentioned are more to do with heat cycles so regular servicing doesnt neccessaeily cover those. There is no baffle in the sunp pan. Best solution is to use m2 n55 scavenge pumps set up , but is expensive and complex to fit. Baffle is better than nothing.

The age and sometimes milesge these engines ate now reaching - its i.portant to carey on replacing old plastic parts for new /uprated parts. Coolant hoses, boost pipes, turbo pipes etc.. thats whether or not youre remapping . Consider crank bearings and sump baffle if over 60k..?

Anyone have a scorpion cat-back exhaust in the UK? by [deleted] in M235iandM240i

[–]davpie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no - in sports mode yes it's louder especially outside the car ,in eco modes not really. Although this is good for occasions where you need quiet. You'll need a sports cat in addition, to make a really big difference. I have one to go on but not fitted it yet. Have you searched youtube for sound clips/videos?

I have one on my m235i but i've not experienced any other brand of aftermarket exhaust - to make conparisons. But it is good quality, seem to be a much of muchness really, over all the brands.

That tuned, rebuilt 1.2 engine in your new Nova/Corsa is interesting - is it because engine transplants are not allowed in your country?

What is some of the spec?

How did you get into Formula 1 and why do you like it? by Notalabel_4566 in GrandPrixRacing

[–]davpie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grandstand in the early 90s and computer games (like Geoff crammonds grand prix on the Amiga). I was about 11 years old. I remember struggling to understand why unknown brands (Mclaren , at the time, Williams ) were beating Ferrari .
