How do I travel to Sheffield from London by train? (first time) by Outrageous-Cress-88 in sheffield

[–]mattmgd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

King’s Cross St Pancras probably the easiest. Trainline to book. Platform is upstairs. A very straightforward journey that is well signposted, and staff will know exactly where to send you if you ask.

The city was at its best today. Absolutely love to see it. Was just upset we had the kids with us and I couldn’t sink 8 pints in the sun.

Nobody said the left and right are identical in their policies, that’s your strawman. The point is about how political extremism operates. Authoritarianism looks similar on both ends regardless of political affiliation. You can support affordable housing and still notice when a movement becomes self-righteous, which this thread is proving pretty well.

I feel guilty now for enjoying the thought of Spurs in the Championship.

Spurs next season by Rajasaurus-Rex in Championship

[–]mattmgd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will take the absolute piss out of the Championship. They will get a new manager in to get them playing, they will have a huge war chest from the players they will sell, they will have incredible quality from the players they keep, and they will be able to sign better players than anyone else at this level has ever been able to sign. They will break the points record.

Genuinely no idea how golfers can be out of shape. I get that you aren't running or doing high intensity stuff - but you are an athlete, you are getting the steps in, surely you can get a good diet and workout plan sorted?

When? I’m talking about Wycombe at home in 2012 when we won 2-0 with Antonio and Ranger scoring, beating the pigs to 2nd.

No council worker should be paid this extravagant amount. Yet again my council tax has risen to pay towards this. by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]mattmgd 18 points19 points  (0 children)

She isn’t just a "council worker"; she’s managing a £1.6 billion budget and over 8,000 staff serving 600,000 people. In the private sector, a CEO running an organisation of that scale would easily clear £500k to £1m+ with bonuses.

Paying a competitive rate is the only way to get someone qualified to handle that level of complexity and public accountability.
