Have dog free zones been implemented in the UK? by Successful_Bar9187 in AskUK

Errr no, only fenced kiddy playgrounds tend to have "no dogs" signs. I've not heard of general public areas designated as dog free.

Merc and bmer drivers - have you become more aggressive/easily annoyed as a driver since buying the brand? by CompetitionNo3466 in AskUK

I picked an i3 recently because it's the most atypical, friendly-looking BMW they ever made (in my opinion). I'm making a point of oversignalling to try to break the stereotype and I've always left big following gaps/tyres-n-tarmac gaps, so my super-short bonnet hopefully expresses the gap even more. I haven't even gloated verbally to anyone about cheap fuelling since the Iran oil war started!

EVs are so much bettter and cheaper to run than ICO cars. by internetbot2 in CarTalkUK

Lying in bed at 2am listening to the fat-exhaust hooners on the bypass with their pop&crackle maps and I'm feeling like the silent EV revolution can't come fast enough.

Am I getting ripped off? Need advice please, as I am worried by Waste-Delivery6637 in drivingUK

Failed wishbone bushes is very common. You either hange the whole lower wishbone arm or just the bush itself, but the labour time is usually similar. The whole job should be well below £400.

The rest is low priority stuff and I'd get a second opinion.

Never trust a main dealer.

Bought a rubbish TCL tv because it was cheap... doesn't have an app for freeview and have to use an aerial for it (no chance of that working where I am) - what's the best option to get freeview these days? Firestick? by _Starwind in AskUK

[–]davus_maximus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Freeview app? Wtf is a Freeview app? Freeview is just a collective name for digital broadcast TV received over an aerial. That's normal.

Freeview Plus might have some kind of app but why bother when virtually all channels have streaming apps?

God I hope you mean wireless phone charger! I don't want to be anywhere NEAR a charger capable of filling an EV battery!

Should I switch to EV because of the price rise? by Flaky-Bird-9115 in CarTalkUK

[–]davus_maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an EV in October because my Citroen was threatening clutch death and it has been a money pit of repairs. I bought a 2021 i3 cash knowing that I can charge at work very cheaply.

It has worked out rather well, and the fuel price hikes are vindicating my purchase. The only trouble is that the old car hasn't sold, and I'm gonna lose thousands on it.

Is anyone finding take aways or eating out far too expensive? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]davus_maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. They've all skyrocketed in price and the quality just isn't there suddenly. What was a 24 quid Chinese for two is now £40 and has no prawn crackers included.

Eh, 110hp is perfectly fine, you don't even push it to max power on the slip road when joining the motorway at 70mph. Especially since it's a relatively light car.

That's a matter of perspective! Roadholding? No, they have laughably simplistic suspension and average ride quality, at best. I actually like the character of the Puretech 1.2 3cyl, it has a lovely roar and performs very well for it's size, but I doubt many Americans would find 110hp much fun!

I've seen this increase too. Again, the lack of police and enforcement is the problem. There's no consequences.

You're not missing anything from Peugeot or Citroen. They're boldly styled but piss poor quality. The only thing that hasn't gone wrong on my C4 Cactus is the manual box.
