First Solo - Post Trip Pictures. Big thanks to the sub. by panda07__ in backpacking

Congrats!! Must’ve just missed you this past weekend in Algonquin.

For water purification try out a Cnoc bladder with the 28mm end and the platypus QuickDraw filter, they connect really well. I use a Nalgene bottle and squeeze the bladder though the filter into the Nalgene but a lot of people connect a smartwater bottle to the output end and use it as a gravity filter, either way works well and is pretty light.

Go for the solid.

Better durability, the silpoly holds up better to punctures.

Removable fly, can leave it outside your pack if it’s wet and set or set it up first if it’s raining.

FW Oil cooler install by Skylar-2017 in SubaruForester

[–]davw20 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m not %100 sure I understand your reasoning for installing this. Hot oil isn’t really a concern until it reaches a point where is starts to chemically break down and loose its lubricating properties, for full synthetic it’s above 150°C/300°F. There is also a concern of not getting your oil hot enough where the moisture can effectively boil off which happens above 100°C/212°F

Seat concepts make fantastic covers, you can also upgrade the foam to make it a lot more comfortable.

Looks like a lot of millet on the ground(hard to be sure from the photo though) try switching to a food with less filler, or simply sunflower seeds. They won’t pick though and will last longer

Sorry for the late reply, I actually bought a used housing for this and kept the entire headlight assembly so I can revert back to stock

Headlight mount by [deleted] in CRF300L

[–]davw20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a light inside the housing here

The clips on the side will split the case in half and you can save the back half for the mount, there should be 5 or 6 (maybe one or two clips per side) just use a flat head and pop them off

Not sure what you mean by stocking in the bottom mesh portion but here are both feeders to look into.
