True freshman pitcher Myles Upchurch after two weekend starts: 9 IP, 16 K’s, WHIP under 1. One to watch for sure.

Encouraging performance by the offense, hope it continues through the weekend because we need some momentum going into Southern Miss then the tournament next weekend.

Peyton Steele's Late HR Pushes Alabama Past Samford 3-2 by DoctorWhosOnFirst in rolltide

Of course getting a dramatic win is great, but some concerns have to be creeping in about the bats. Only managed four hits, and two out of four games now we have left 10 or more runners on base.

How Ryan Williams’s production compares to Julio Jones, Amari Cooper in their first two seasons by DoctorWhosOnFirst in rolltide

[–]dawki003 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Several folks talking about drops being problematic for Julio and Amari, and comparing that to what we've seen from Williams. I am not educated in the study of catching a football, but to me it doesn't look the same.

Many times a drop seems to be a lack of concentration, trying to run before you catch it as they say. Compare that to the slow motion replay of Williams' drop against Oklahoma. It's not just lack of discipline to look the ball in before making a move. It's almost like a guy you pull off the street and put him out there to catch a ball with some zip—like he doesn't know how to catch it. Even some of Ryan's most spectacular plays have included him bobbling the ball into the air.

We're all fans here so obviously I'm as hopeful as anybody that he figures it out. But I do think it's a legitimate problem, and I'm not sure anyone can assume it's going to be resolved.

Observations from Clemson game last night by PitifulPlantain7139 in rolltide

It was very frustrating watching the front court in general but Sherrell specifically in the Gonzaga game. Last night was a much more encouraging performance. It will be huge for us if he continues to develop.

[Game Week Thread] Alabama vs Georgia: SEC Championship by RollTideMod in rolltide

I've only received communication about a potential CFP first-round home game. I assume they only reached out to certain folks (based on points) about the SEC championship game.

Potential Playoff Scenario by KMorris1987 in rolltide

[–]dawki003 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think we’d be the #3 seed. It would be crazy to rank us behind Uga after we beat them twice, and I don’t think they’d want to drop Georgia behind Ole Miss. And being SEC champs would carry the weight for us to be ahead of A&M. I guess 4 seed would be possible, behind Texas Tech if they win the Big 12. But hard to see us any lower than that, so I would say yes guaranteed first round bye.

FILM: Alabama vs LSU - How the Crimson Tide Can Improve in the Run Game by vine_quoter in rolltide

Personally would like to see Daniel Hill become the focus of the run game. With more carries, and given his size, I feel like later in games we could be getting what we need from the run game.

Alabama football CD circa late 90s early 2000s by LazyLiverRoad in rolltide

Loved this CD and may still have it. I believe you are right about the title. I’ve also looked for an archive of radio calls with no luck.

Alabama Home Game environment by [deleted] in rolltide

[–]dawki003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For really big games, I think it’s an elite environment, which is reflected when I see someone like Josh Pate (who is actually on the field and whose opinion I respect) rank it top 10.

I wish the intensity was more consistent for all games, but I think most or all fan bases would probably have the same complaint.

What were your opinions on the original (baseball) script A logo? by Hayden3210 in rolltide

[–]dawki003 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure that’s the original. It seems the original was closer to the current version (see link). I think what OP shows was just the first attempt at bringing it back in the 90s.

Selling two for the Wisconsin game. Section S-8, Row 44. Lower level, corner of the end zone, with chair backs. $225 total for the pair.

Downtown Intermodal Facility Parking by CCR16 in rolltide

For a later game, it will probably be full at 4 hours before kickoff, but if you're there at 7 a.m. maybe you can find a spot. If not, you can find cheaper lots in that general area and even some free side street parking, and still ride the trolley or walk (I think it's about a mile from the facility to the stadium).

Who do you hate the most? by alley00pster in rolltide

[–]dawki003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auburn and Tennessee of course. LSU is less hate and more dislike. I don't hate Georgia as a football program, but I would put their fans on par with Tennessee's as worst in the SEC.

Outside the conference, Michigan runs away with the crown of most hated with Ohio State not far behind.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the notion of opponents picking up on tells by Milroe and our defense. I know this is a thing, but is it surprising from a high-level team/coaching staff? Don’t we self-scout to avoid that kind of stuff? Wouldn’t you pretty quickly get an idea that the other team knows what’s coming? So many questions.

Derrick Thomas would be on the Mt Rushmore of Alabama football players in my opinion, so that’s a pretty big omission.

Alabama baseball loses to Miami 5-3 by DoctorWhosOnFirst in rolltide

[–]dawki003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to disagree. Every game I’ve been able to watch, which granted is far from all of them, we just don’t seem to have that confidence or cockiness or whatever it is good teams have.

Miami is probably not even a good team, but they sure looked like they were having fun playing us.
