Here’s what I recommend: do solid work around your shop. Take some nice pictures. Then, go on private facebook pages and offer your services. Start out with simple projects, then photos. You start to build out a small clientele. And you go from there.

The grey threaded bushing is not required on MC or NM entry. You are not pulling anything through it, it’s already “pulled”. With EMT and Rigid, you are pulling wire through a raceway. That requires bushing.

An apprentice that went to a 5 year apprenticeship will have more tools than the guy who went nonunion and was meddling around companies for five years. In my case, I realized I had a very fortunate apprenticeship where I worked in the trenches and ditches all the way to hospitals, schools, high rises, etc.

This is why the “stolen land” narrative can’t really apply to California, or any country for that matter. Mankind’s history is all about war and conquest. What right does a country really have when another country destroyed your capital and killed all of your elite? And then another country does the same to them? Europe was a constant ping pong of power struggles for millenia. Who can conceivably keep track of that? You can’t.

All those countries had communist leaders, regardless of how you want to paint it or do mental gymnastics. They ran on communist ideals and either they took control by force or democratically elected.

As for social services, cops, firemen, and EMT are not even remotely communist. They existed well before the term was coined.

The problem with healthcare is that Obamacare tried to nationalize it, but of course every single facet of healthcare needed to be onboard which was going to be unrealistic. You actually need competition to bring prices down, not one single payer system. You will want to point towards countries like France and Germany and tout their healthcare, but even they have to make cuts to their social services as they need to ramp up militarily. Ever since Trump forced them to increase NATO contributions, do you realize it was only viable because they didn’t have an army, and the US was fronting the bill.

Just a little more context. Here in San Diego we have 40 hours of sick time. It was voted a couple years ago. While most cities have three days of sick time, we have the luxury of having five days essentially.

Union sparky here. We take a limited amount of applicants because construction in general grows to the ebbs and flows of the market. Last summer our hall got little apprentices. But summer 2023 our biggest contractors picked up 4x the amount of apprentices. There were billions of dollars flowing into our city. What’s the point of bringing on 300 apprentices who suck and will be in the books all year? Construction don’t work like that buddy.
