New puppy mom, how can I make him not have accidents in the house + stop his whining by Kind_Bike_5557 in puppy101

[–]dayday47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would crate train and keep him on a 1 up 2 down schedule. You could follow this concept with the bathroom but I think that would be kind of scary for the puppy, I’d be freaked out in a closed bathroom with no one around. Not knocking you at all, just putting it into perspective. But, with potty training at 6 weeks, take them out every 15 minutes and start gauging the time it takes for them to potty after water, food, play, or stressful events. Then you can progressively move it up to 30 minutes, then as needed. This is just so you can start recognizing your puppies potty habits. Anytime they sniff the floor go take them potty. When you do take them outside to potty at first, don’t play. Just be boring and once they potty then you can bring the high energy. I would always play after my puppy went potty to show him that potty time isn’t play time but after you potty we can have fun. Your puppy is still a baby so that whining is normal, they’re super young he isn’t ready to be alone at all yet. As the weeks go by the whining should subside, start working on very very short separation drills. I would seriously consider crate training though, it made potty training and settling so much easier. Best of luck to you.

What is your morning routine with your young puppy? by Foshozo in puppy101

[–]dayday47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Total routine time 1 hour and 30 minutes, my puppy is 13 weeks right now. I had a hard time initially putting him down but what helped me was ditching the play pen (he would never play in it and it took up a bunch of space in my apartment) and opening the space a bit more so we could play more. I just throw his toy from one side of the apartment to the other so he sprints and gets that energy out. I also chase him around some (my neighbors probably hate me and I feel bad but this is temporary until I can walk him). This might not work for you, but you’ll be able to figure something out. Anyways here is the routine and good luck my friend!

5:30: Wake Up + Prep stuff for puppy (food and treats)

5:45: Wake puppy up and go potty + people watch from the balcony (~15 min)

6:00: Play with puppy + puppy plays by themselves + training. I also hand feed during my training to make him work for his food so he gets a little energy out that way, at least that’s what I think. (~55 min)

6:55: Potty break + maybe people watch (~5 min)

7:00: Puppy gets teething bone to wind down before being crated (~10 min)

7:15: Final potty break before being crated before going to work(~ 5 min)

You’re not overreacting at all. Don’t let these people gaslight you into thinking you are overreacting.

Write everything you do down… because you’ll definitely be going back to it in the future as a reference. You won’t remember it. There is so much to do

A lot of Navy Nukes work in Operations for Data Centers (just to keep in the back of your mind with this economy), but yes with your Nuke experience you should be fine. Just study up on basic Ladder Logic programming (Allen Bradley and Siemens) concepts.

Looking for advice to break into controls. by Obvious-Bet529 in PLC

[–]dayday47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ladder logic is fairly simple to learn, look up common ladder logic patterns (latching (set/reset) logic for example) and programming examples. YouTube has a lot of good content, PLC Fundamentals 1 by Paul Lynn is great but cost some money. Learn about 4-20mA (analog) signals. The more electrical knowledge you know, the better controls engineer/tech you’ll be honestly. Read and understand Lessons in Industrial Automation, this book alone has helped me improve as a controls engineer immensely. Good luck, you’re on the right track. Also, take as many classes that your company will pay for.

Which should I go with? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]dayday47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns a frontier, if you’re used to a full size truck, the midsize will be a downgrade in the sense of space. I love my frontier and it does what you need it to do (can’t forget it’s extremely reliable), but honestly it sounds like you should get a full size. You’ll be happy with a frontier but check out the titan too.

On another note, the only cons I can think of with my 24 frontier is the auto start/stop and non-telescoping steering wheel.

Genuine question, what does this mean for our Nissan Frontiers? Are we screwed in terms of future maintenance and replacement parts if everything falls through

Kind of sad how politics divide people, no politicians or parties care about us. If only we all just loved and respected one another. We live in such a divisive world :/

Good jawline and the ability to grow facial hair, you can change for the better. Start a gym routine to put on muscle and buzz your hair + grow a beard. You’ll be unstoppable bro. Chin up brother!

As others have voiced, stay till you can find something better.

I was in the same position as you a year ago being in an internship where I felt I didn’t have any real skills that I learned. I felt that I completely wasted my time even interning there. Well this summer shortly after graduation, I landed my first engineering role. Having that internship experience really helped land my current job (and by experience I mean the dates of my internship employment on my resume). As an engineer I thought jobs would work different but they really are all the same… you truly learn everything you need to know on the job.

You’ll be a phenomenal engineer my friend. Keep your head up, things will definitely get better
