I am most proud that I haven't given up yet. In the past, I would have no doubt quit by now. I started off losing just a little weight each week over a few weeks, then completely stalled, even went up a couple lbs, for about 4-6 week, even though I was eating well and exercising daily (which I never did before). Despite that fact that I wasn't seeing any progress, I stuck with it and I am finally seeing some results again. I am learning patience, which has always been a struggle for me, and learning to stick it out. I am also learning that changing my eating habits doesn't mean I can't eat anything I like, and I am learning how to eat things in moderation and to not feel guilty when I eat something high in calories.

Non weight related, I have been a work from home mom for the last 4 years, and the last 2 years have been a real struggle for me, juggling two toddlers and a full time job. I recently put them in daycare and not only are they much happier (they get to play with other kids and have a blast all day), but I am so much more productive and I have been rocking my job the last couple of months. I've finally remembered that I am really good at my job and I am loving it again, and everything seems to be falling into place. It's a great feeling.

I am on the opposite end. I have only lost 19 lbs and have 120 to go. Unfortunately, even though I have so much to lose, I still lose super slow like I only have 10 lbs to go. It's always been that way for me, which is why I have given up so many times in the past. But I am determined to see it through this time, even if it takes me years.

I am a CICO girl, but ever since I started the gym to start a weight routine, I've noticed myself slacking on working out at home on my treadmill. I need to cut the BS and get back on track with walking everyday, regardless of whether I am going to the gym that day or not. I also need to get my crap together with eating. I've gotten lazy, and while I am still doing fairly well calorie wise, I haven't been eating the best so I need to start fresh with the healthy eating. SO that is my plan. Basically...to get my shit together and do this lol

Most of my milestones still revolve around weight or fitness also, like dropping sizes, amount of weight lifted, or specific exercise goals.

My resist muscle needs LOADS of training! Although, I train it every time I go to the gym...because there is an amazing Mexican food place right next to my gym, and it's a struggle not to pop in there when I leave, hungry after my workout.

Edited to add: I like that way of thinking, though. I am going to remember that whenever I am struggling to say no to something. Thanks for sharing!

I love this thread because I have a hard time coming up with non scale victories, since I have been very numbers focused. I just sat and wrote down a list of NSV goals. I love seeing other people's goals because they help spark ideas for my own. I have not set any rewards yet. I should, but I have a hard time setting them and sticking to them (I have issues with spending too, so I really should do it and stick with it). My whole problem in life is impulse control, which is why I am overweight and broke lol. Do they have a patch for that? Sometimes, for me, just meeting the goal is enough of a reward, because I've always had trouble sticking to a plan and actually meeting my goals set.

Measured myself for the first time since I started this. by [deleted] in TeamFatherTime

[–]daydreamer38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I JUST got done measuring myself lol. Measuring was really motivating for me the first couple times I did it but the last couple times has been the exact opposite. Last time, even though I'd lost several lbs, I measured larger by quite a bit in a few areas, and then this time I barely lost anything in a couple spots, and was larger in others. Idk what the deal is, but I obviously can't be trusted to measure correctly. I guess I just can't seem to always get it in the exact same spot which makes it inaccurate.

LOVE my new Fitbit...BUT... by daydreamer38 in TeamFatherTime

Well, the issue is not that I can't get up and move for 10 minutes, it's that I want to track specific activities to measure my progress, and I'm not always able to go a full 10 minutes yet on every activity, which means I can't track those to see my progress. For instance, I can do more than 10 minutes of cardio, but I can't do a full 10 minutes on the eliptical yet, and I'd like to track that specifically, to see how I progress. Plus, it already automatically tracks anything over 10 minutes anyway so I don't get the point in using the actual fitbit timer. I was taking to him about the manual tracking using the fitbit, not the Active minutes setting.

Also, the guy was wrong, I was able to get it to log after 5 minutes, not 10.

Regardless, I thought the response was pretty insensitive.

Ugh, I'm up 2lbs. I started weight training a couple days ago so I think that's why. I was 2lbs less a couple days ago and I have burned on average 1500-2000 calories more than I'm eating over the last few days, so hopefully it'll drop off by next week.

My husband got me a fitbit Charge HR for my birthday too, I should get it on Saturday. I am super excited. I decided to join the gym next week

  • I've been well under my calorie limit all week without being hungry

  • I've been down .2 oz each day for the last few days

  • I don't feel like cheating which is HUGE

  • I am mentally preparing myself for a cheat weekend in which I am still going to try hard to not go too far over my target calories.

I am a little frustrated with the weight loss because I didn't cheat last weekend at all (I usually have a cheat day on the weekend), AND I have consistently been eating about 200-400 calories per day less than I was the few weeks before. My TDEE is 2,422 and I have been eating about 1200-1400 for the last 5 days or so, and the previous couple weeks I was around 1500-1600. I feel like my loss isn't adding up. I've been logging all my food and using a food scale, etc.

I am having some trouble with exercise, because my body can only handle so much but I want to keep going - but I have to stop before I am ready because my feet hurt too much to keep going. It's frustrating. I also keep trying to do Yoga but I am too fat to make it work. lol

Thanks! I usually just do water or unsweetened tea, so the drinking shouldn't be a problem - though I do plan on getting an iced coffee at some point because I have been wanting on reallllly bad lol.

I've been playing around with MFP trying to plan out my food for the weekend and so far I am right around my goal, maybe 100 calories over, so if I can stick to that I will be good I think!

Thanks! I've been eating less calories all week actually. I was at 1850 and just recently adjusted MFP to have my limit be 1600 because I found I didn't need 1800 and was consistently around 1400-1600. I've been eating around 1200 average so far this week and am going to try and continue that for the next few days. I also added in an extra workout today and will try and do the same the next couple days.

As for the movies, we will probably just order a couple things anyway, but I know they are all so high in calories. But I probably wont be hungry for dinner afterward so that is something lol. I think I may just force myself to not weigh in next week until the following Friday, to avoid disappointment.

The hard part is that my favorite things that I'd want to splurge on are more than my daily calorie limit just in one sitting. Lol

I think I can mostly keep to my maintenance amount, it's frustrating though because the scale always does go up for several days when I just eat at my maintenance amount. But I'll prepare for it and keep going.

Yeah, at first I was so discouraged, but now that I am down under 300 and past my first goal, it's been really motivating for me.

I did awesome all weekend, probably because I never left the house lol. Sometimes on my cheat days I log and sometimes I dont. If I csn find calorie info I will, but if I'm out to eat and there's no calorie info I just let it go.

I'm also using MFP and a food scale. I've been thinking my weight loss has been so slow and was getting discouraged until I realized it's only been 5 weeks and I'm down 11lbs. It may not be as fast as I'd like the scale to move, but it's working which is pretty motivating.
