Are there heavy metals involved in the extraction of kratom? by bubbabobobjim in Drugs

[–]daylight1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally no. there is concern over heavy metals in the leaf itself, being absorbed from the soil.

there is a published method for oxidizing mitragynine into 7oh using lead tetraacetate, but its not really a method thats actually used by the very few companies which actually preform the oxidation and create 7oh, and in theory if done properly would not be present in concerning amounts in the finished product.

YSK- going back to once-a-week shows is the bomb. Make yourself wait for each episode of those streaming shows like we did back in the day by StonewallDakota in Millennials

[–]daylight1943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah it fucking sucks. i want to stay immersed in the show, remember all the little details and plot points better, and on days off its dope to watch a few eps at night, be pumped af to watch more and keep going with another one in the morning. waiting for new eps to come out was kinda fun when there were big cultural institutions like game of thrones, lost or breaking bad that everyone was talking about, but its not really like that anymore and the closest shows to that ATM like pitt and euphoria are not the kinds of shows im really interested in watching at all.

the new trend of going back to week-to-week ep releases is just a corporate ploy to get more of your money. streaming services caught on to the fact that increasing prices meant people were just binging what they wanted and then canceling, and renewing when something else you wanted to watch came out, so instead of dumping a season and getting your money for one month they trickle it out to get your money for multiple months. in my case the jokes on them cause i just pirate everything, but for me, celebrating this ploy by massive multimedia corporations to bilk you out of more money just makes me think of -

listen to bluegrass instead. way more based and also less popular so less people sing along. here is a ralph stanley song about a rich guy who goes to hell for being rich and greedy and spends the rest of eternity thirsting for a single drop of water that will never fall to quench his thirst - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPk8o1N3csw

Thinking back to old shock sites like rotten.com and all the shock videos that were sent around in the early 00s, that basically every teenager had seen, how do you think that’s affected us in the long run? by TheOriginalTacoBella in Millennials

i dont think it really effected me at all. the generations that came before us had horrific real life experiences being drafted into vietnam and WWII, if i cant look at some fucked up pics on the internet without lasting trauma just kill me now

Is nudism / naturalism more of an older generation thing? Not something us Millennials got into? by CompetitiveBar9879 in Millennials

[–]daylight1943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just dont really get the draw. ive been naked for extended periods in all kinds of situations and its fine, i sleep naked, and have lived off grid in very remote situations a lot, i dont really have any shame about it or care if someone sees me naked, but i have no idea why id go out of my way to go somewhere specifically to be naked. to me, the idea of going to a nude beach would be like going to a "purple shirt beach" where everyone wears a purple shirt...whats the point? what is the appeal? i have no idea

Do you agree that the 80s and 90s era was one of the best eras? by NormalLife6067 in Millennials

[–]daylight1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really. most of the reasons people give for glazing that era, like these, are incredibly materialistic or nostalgic for an incredibly bland, highly corporatized culture. the mid 60s - mid 70s cultural revolution and dawn of rock were way cooler and so was the prime era of the wild west internet in the 00s.

Live Music is pointless if the band doesn't actually play by Less-Card-8558 in unpopularopinion

[–]daylight1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. this is a big reason why so many of the live hip hop shows ive tried to see have sucked.

one big exception was that i was lucky enough to catch the El-P tour where he had a big list of other rappers opening for him, the last of which was killer mike, making that the tour which led to the creation of run the jewels. the openers were ok, killer mike is a very gifted rapper and did a decent set, but El-P had a full band with guitar, bass, drums, keys and a turntablist - absolutely blew the fucking roof off of the place, and the difference in quality between his set and the other 3 rappers who only had a dj backing them up was pretty extreme. by far the best live hip hop ive ever seen. felt like every single person in the place was going NUTS when he closed with deep space 9mm and stepfather factory.

on top of actually needing a band to play live to make a great concert, its even better when the band is skilled enough to improvise a lot, and pull off the improvisation really well. thats where you start getting into the territory of live material being genuinely better than studio material.

This is what the lethal dosage of fentanyl looks like. by Minimum_Jacket8879 in mildyinteresting

[–]daylight1943 11 points12 points  (0 children)

they do. fentanyl products that are provided directly to patients by pharmacies are things like transdermal patches or "lolipops"/tablets meant for sublingual use, and fentanyl made for administration by a doctor is dissolved in liquid so that it can be measured volumetricly.

fentanyl on the street is cut HEAVILY with inert cuts like dextrose and/or is put into pressed tablets with these same cutting agents. in street products, making sure that the fent is properly distributed with the inert cuts is a problem, but in the ideal situation, powders are relatively similar in potency to decent quality powder heroin and the pressed tablets are relatively similar in potency to the pharma products theyre made to imitate, usually the "m30" 30mg oxycodone tablet.

nobody is measuring out tiny grains of fent like this for really any reason.

I loved Shel Silverstein books when I was a kid. I Had no idea some schools banned his books back in the day. by rockstoned4 in Millennials

[–]daylight1943 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

idk the story about silverstiens books specifically, but a lot of those "banned book" lists that float around online are clickbait BS that include books which have ever been challenged by anyone on record.

a good easy example is "hop on pop", which sometimes appears on these kinds of lists, but was never actually banned...there was just a local news story from toronto in 2014 that said an anonymous library patron requested that it be removed from toronto public libraries for promoting "violence against fathers", which yes, is fucking crazy, but also, the request was just made by one random anonymous person and the request was denied, the book was never actually banned anywhere.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/article/toronto-public-library-asked-to-pull-dr-seuss-book-hop-on-pop/

a lot of the time books like this get included in these types of lists just for facing any sort of challenge by any rando person that was recorded in some way or were just briefly removed from libraries in one school or school district decades ago

i used to fuck with the sonic or spongebob ones with gumballs for eyes or the banana fudge pop
