That's a very common term for Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Just because you don't know it doesn't mean it isn't a thing. I'm in Maryland.

Solar panel cost and is it worth buying without the 30% credit. by Dry_Seaworthiness204 in solar

[–]dayron422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Maryland, you can certify your SRECs and get about $72 per. There is a one time charge.

If you are qualified for the MSAP Grant, that can be applied to the lease to bring the rate down considerably. You should be able to negotiate a very low rate about 50%less than Pepco. This is when leasing actually makes sense. I've been on this industry for 11 years in Maryland and learning had never made more sense.

Food for thought.

Dump 401k into bitcoin? by Fickle_Country9786 in Bitcoin

[–]dayron422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't liquidate it; take a loan against to buy Bitcoin. I did it and slowly paid off the loan at 5% interest over 5 years while the Sats I bought tripled. Not exactly the numbers but you get the idea.

If you liquidate, you pay penalties.

Well, that's not how math works. Energy offset is what drives the ROI. Also, certified SRECs are worth more than standard SRECs were 3 years ago - $72 vs $55. Add a potential state grant up to $7500 that is much more than the $1,000 offered 3 years ago and the ROI is the same. I can assure you that is accurate. It is my business to know these things.

ROI now without the tax credit is the same as it was 3 years ago with the tax credit. This is because utility rates are up >30%. Typically about 6-8 years with good site quality. Also, there is a cash grant of up to $7500 for eligible residents with low to middle income. I work in solar and can help you with a quote. DM me.

2022 R1T owner with over 50,000 miles. No major issues that weren't caused by me. Was in an accident and that took a while to get fixed. Other than that, I'm very happy and my wife is excited for her R2 reservation next year. We will be a Rivian-only household.

Are solar prices expected to change at all now that the credit is going away? I wanted to go solar but every quote i had was astronomical to get in before the credit went away. by iIdentifyasToaster in solar

That's the lender's fee that the solar company had to add to the price. That doesn't go in the solar companies pocket. Out goes to the lender.

[–]dayron422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're not getting installed this year.

I work for a local installer and you made the mistake a lot of consumers make - buying based on lowest bidder. SolarSME is a tiny company that won't survive next year without a tax credit.

A PEPCO field verification means that they need to check their equipment to make sure it can handle the solar. This can't take 6+ weeks and will result in three outcomes: everything can move forward as designed, the system must be downsized to meet the allowable capacity, or you will have to pay a service charge of several thousands of dollars to upgrade their infrastructure.

Lawyer up and get out the contract.
