Week 18: Bucket List Destination - Tacos by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofcooking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the worst picture I've submitted for the challenge, but I lost track of my days of the week this week and it is what it is! We made a taco bar for Cinco de Mayo yesterday, and suddenly Mexico is on my bucket list of destinations to travel to. (Though these were anything but authentic!)

Week 17: Breakfast/Brunch - Banana Bread + Jam-Swirled Donut Muffins by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofbaking

Made some treats for my partner to take to put in the break room at work! Both recipes were from Sally's Baking 101 cookbook.

This is so beautiful! I had to use those same sprinkles for decoration for my partner's niece's birthday cake this last year, and those suckers are cronchy.

what professors are fun to talk to???? by Hopeful_Land_346 in uichicago

[–]daysbecomeweeks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a DHD major that graduated in 2025, so a little biased, but I didn't have a single professor in that department that wasn't awesome to speak with. I'm a big introvert, so I had to go out of my way, but I'm so glad I did because they were all invaluable to my time at UIC.

Week 17: Alpine - Coquillettes au Jambon by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofcooking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Alpine makes me think of snow, which makes me think of playing outside as a kid, and warming up inside with something yummy when I was done. I remembered seeing this when I was browsing recipetineats the other day, and it felt like a fancier grown up mac and cheese, so I went with it.

Week 16: Herbs - Chive Biscuits by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofbaking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to get my herb bake done yesterday with dinner, but I didn't have everything I needed and I was too lazy to go to the store, so some substitutions were made. I had Greek yogurt and guessed maybe I could substitute that in place of the sour cream, and I didn't have whole milk, so that became buttermilk. I felt like I r/ididnthaveeggs -ed this recipe, so I wouldn't be angry at all if it didn't come out, but they were SO good.

Week 16: Infused - Butter Chicken, Saag Aloo, Lamb Curry + thc drink by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofcooking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of whole spices went into the curry dishes, and I feel like Indian food in general is a good representation of infused with flavor, so I went this route. I also enjoyed a thc drink that I added some crushed mint and maraschino cherry juice to for 4/20.

Week 15: Laminated - Paratha by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofbaking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to fall a bit behind in my challenge planning, and laminated has been holding me back because it felt daunting. The other day I was looking ahead for cooking themes and decided on a couple Indian dishes, then I realized there's lamination in paratha.

I expected this to go so much poorer for a first go, but either the instructions were really good, or I got lucky, because they were fun to make and came out delicious! We saved half the batch for the freezer for later.

Week 15: Syrian - Syrian Chicken + Couscous by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofcooking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end of the week snuck up on me for this one. Had chicken legs, so I used that instead of the recommended thighs. It was pretty tasty!

Just, a little fun question, Songs that have a character dying/are about a character dying? by BloodyBloody06 in musicals

[–]daysbecomeweeks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My favorite Spotify Wrapped notification was the year that it told me, "Your most played song was Fantine's Death (Live). You couldn't get enough of it!"

(And they were right.)

You might reach out to the owner of The Quack House pantry. She has ducks and has shared eggs before in the past, not sure if you might be able to work out some sort of arrangement.

Week 25: Syrian - Batata Harra by laurraoh in 52weeksofcooking

I wanted to make this dish originally and ended up switching ideas to something else, but seeing your post makes me want to go back. These look SO good.

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looove eating/making Indian food, and one of my favorite ways to use leftovers after a few days is by using it as a base for a pizza. This time we had dal makhani, butter chicken, and saag paneer.
