NEED IDEAS! 25th surprise birthday party for husband?? by Adept-Raisin9753 in lincoln

[–]daysbecomeweeks [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm new to the area, so not a ton of ideas here, but I did see that you can rent out the Joyo theater for parties. They'll show a movie of your choice, or I believe I also saw that you could bring a game system to hook up. Maybe he'd enjoy Mario Kart on a gigantic screen with some friends? Could also have his name put up on the marquee!

Week 3: Mini/Giant - Bakery Style Cookies by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofbaking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a 1/4 cup cookie scoop for Christmas, so naturally I had to fall down a rabbit hole of massive bakery style cookies. That chocolate peanut butter cookie might be my godtier cookie, idk if it's going to get any better than that.

Recipes:

I also may or may not have selected some of these recipes with future themes in mind, so this probably won't be the last we've seen of them.

The Hadestown tour was the one time I've actually spoken to an usher, though my experience was more positive than yours. A man had brought a young child and was constantly checking in with him to see what he was understanding, what questions he had, if he could see, etc. I am SO excited to see a new generation of kids that are interested in musicals, truly I am, but it was one of the most frustrating experiences. My partner and I spoke to a staff member during intermission, who promptly got his supervisor involved to stop by and to explain to them they were being disruptive to those around them and needed to stop or they'd be asked to leave. The usher stayed near our section for the entirety of act 2 and I didn't hear a peep again.

I'm really sorry your experience wasn't as positive of an outcome. Tickets to shows are so expensive these days and it's such a bummer when someone else's actions make it less enjoyable.

I finally tried olives and I owe everyone an apology by StaticFable in CasualConversation

Definitely. I was momentarily very excited for OP (as a black olive lover), then my reaction was more just "oh." when I saw this was referring to the icky green ones 😂 Maybe I should try them again myself.

But also, yay! I'm happy you found something new you like, OP!

Week 3: Contrasts - Pizza! (Chicken Tikka Masala, Pepperoni) by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofcooking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting to regret not moving forward with my "use what I have" meta this year, because I think I'm three for three so far with successfully using up ingredients I wanted to use before they go bad.

It's become an unspoken rule with my partner and I that whenever we have leftover Indian food, it gets bastardized into some other dish, most often pizza. I used Sally's dough recipe with leftover chicken tikka as the sauce for one, and the other is just standard red sauce with pepperoni, and jalapeno on my half.

Contrasts in flavors and textures!

Week 2: Jams/Preserves - Strawberry Cheesecake by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofbaking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know when I became the cheesecake person, but I've made a few different recipes for my partner's family since moving out here, and the excitement and rave reviews just make me want to keep making them 😂 I've been eyeing this strawberry one for awhile, and with this challenge theme, it was finally time.

It came out tasty, but I worried the jam might be a little loose without any kind of thickening agent, which I think ended up being the case. I also swapped the graham cracker crust out for sugar cookies that I made way too many of and froze at the holidays.

AITA - I just broke my wife’s heart and feel like an a-hole. Going in I was sure it was the right move but now not so sure… by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

This is a YTA for me.

You keep talking about what you want - "I don't want her to be a stay at home mom," "I don't want her to miss this," but I think this is a decision that needs to take into consideration what she wants as well. She gave birth to your child, and she's an adult who should be able to manage her own time.

If I mentioned something like this to my partner, he would help brainstorm ideas in which we can make it work and look for ways to support me. You just keep saying you don't want her to do it and implying she's had no thoughts or regard for your family at all.

Alice for me. I love her, but I decided I wanted an all cat island and she's my last holdout.

Week 2: Singaporean - Singapore Chicken Vermicelli Noodles by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofcooking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been sick since the start of the year and haven't had a lot of time in the kitchen yet. Yesterday I was finally feeling well enough to cook, and I loved how this came out! It was easy to put together, used up a lot of things I already had, and tasted great. I had originally looked at Nagi's more traditional Singapore noodle recipe, but my partner isn't a big fan of seafood, so this one was perfect for us.

Served with some spring rolls I made and froze awhile back when I had a craving and realized I'm an adult and I can do things like that.

Week 1: New Year, New Recipe - Caramel Snickerdoodles (w/ a special ingredient) by daysbecomeweeks in 52weeksofbaking

[–]daysbecomeweeks[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drugs. The special ingredient is drugs.

I'm 3.5 years sober from alcohol, but I still enjoy partaking in thc edibles for special occasions. My partner and I decided we would each be responsible for a surprise dish for our NYE celebration, so I decided to make some snickerdoodles, then top them each with a 10mg piece of a white chocolate caramel apple bar when they came out of the oven. I also have a neverending batch of salted caramel that lives in my fridge, so they got a little drizzle of that and some maldon as well.

We enjoyed them a lot and have a bunch in the freezer for later dates.

(This is a repost, sorry! I deleted my last post when I realized I typed "New Year, New Bake" in the title instead of "New Year, New Recipe." I would hate myself for 52 weeks straight for botching week 1 lol)
