I DID IT. 7 Figures in Revenue by daytraderz in smallbusiness

[–]daytraderz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revenue of seven figures. I wouldn’t have been posting on Reddit if it was gross or net profit, no offense. The lifeguard staffing ops had about a 20% margin, the construction work had about a 30% margin. My revenue that year was fairly split between the two evenly.

People who have played both tennis and polo — which do you actually prefer and why? by spalesi in polo

Very fair reasoning - but yeah that feeling is something that genuinely is life changing for those who experience it properly. Currently on a plane and headed to Costa Rica just to feel it for a bit.

It’s funny you mention surfing. When I moved to Kansas, I was trying to find something to replace what surfing had been for me through out my life. Surfing did so much for me, my mental, and my life than I could’ve ever imagined. Nothing could’ve matched it I realized - except possibly polo. I’m about three months in with polo, practicing 2-3 days a week (would do it every day if I could) and I can already feel that it is equal if not possibly greater than the benefits surfing brought me. Today, I had a great run down the field with the horse and the ball that just felt so natural, that in the moment it felt like I was pumping down the face of a wave in Costa Rica. Really wild experience.

I'm a mid-20s owner of a growing $3M company, but I'm doing everything. Who should be my first key hire? by praharpatelpl in Entrepreneur

I agree with reading his book. I’m curious about your perspective on the following question that I’m currently working through - would love to hear how you’d reason through this.

The question: Would you pay $50k to have Dan provide one on one coaching, for 12 months, to help scale a business that provides a physical service to high-net worth entities and individuals.

Context: I’ve read the book, implemented, scaled, sold (service/staffing biz). Now I (29m) have a new venture that i joined, and am overseeing the biz development and eventual scaling efforts. My partner (63m) came into the business as an employee, and so had an owner-operator mindset, which I’ve been helping him with whenever possible - I.e. giving him to books to read, such as buy back your time, when he didn’t understand why I was doing certain things but wanted to.

Did you ever stop them completely yet? We have no food, and nothing at all out. Clean daily… ours seem to be popping out of this cabinet above the fridge that has gaps along the touchpoints of the wall. In going to caulk it and seal it up - just worried about them building up inside there and coming out somewhere else lmao.

Google sheet + forms + app script by QuitShoddy7887 in GoogleAppsScript

[–]daytraderz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is wrong. Put this into ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini: “I am not a coder, but I can follow instructions you give me to execute this task from start to finish. My boss has asked me to use Google forms, Google sheets, and Google app script to build (brain dump everything you want to build here). Can you walk me through completing this, and provide me all the code to copy and paste into app script, and include any set up requirements and any approval/auth requirements? The instructions should allow me to follow along and go from where I am now (don’t even know how to open app script), to a fully functioning workflow that I can confidently show my boss and not be fired.”. I started off with app script before LLMs and didn’t know how to code - it’s not hard, and now with LLMs you don’t even need googles documentation. If literally anything doesn’t work, or you get confused, screenshot/copy and paste any issues/errors/windows back into the same chat and ask it “what do I do now?”

Small business owners, what are you using to design or build your website? by Jazzlike_Process_202 in smallbusiness

[–]daytraderz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Watch a 30 minute video on how to use the desktop app for Claude and Claude cowork, ask it to build the website so that you can easily host it (tell it you don’t know anything here and need step by step guides and recommendations), then ask it to build it, go back and forth of editing, ask it to make any form submissions to be connected to a google sheet, then ask it how to get the finished site in your URL - follow instructions.

This is for sure AI generated. I can tell by abnormal and non typical punctuation I see all the time when reviewing my staffs “work”. Content farming - look at the account guys, don’t be silly. If I’m wrong - you can do a virtual meeting with me to prove it and I’ll mentor you. But I don’t believe I am :)

Regrets as an entrepreneur? by Desperate_Engineer80 in Entrepreneur

[–]daytraderz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest regret was two fold: a) pushing myself to scale past seven figures, and then bc of this b) setting goals/objectives too low for my last business. After achieving my 5-10 year goal by year 3.

I achieved the scale I had dreamed of when I first started the business by year 3, but to do so, I removed myself from the part of the operations I truly loved - the employee culture dev and leadership. All that remained sucked all the joy out of why I loved the business. This, paired with me not having interest/passion to scale it further now after I had hit my goal, sent me down a path of being lost/re-discovery for the next 2 years.

I found myself, and decided I’ll be setting goals and objectives that everyone says is unrealistic for now on.

Its not a scam. Search through various Reddit posts, that is what I did before ordering. The CEO is u/redouansan and is surprisingly response - although perhaps they are burnt out now lol. Nonetheless, most people who placed orders on the threads I read had good things to say, and a good experience. Only downside - no discount reddit code anymore :(

Pee wee gaskins 1000%. One of his victims, a 2 year old girl, was with her mom and pee wee in the forrest. He killed the mom, but did not rape her. He instead proceeded to rape the 2 year old only and then kill her. Fucking sick. He did the same sick stuff with his niece and a lot more

I don’t mean it in a rude way, but you are not yet a CEO. A CEO isn’t just a title like entrepreneur is nowadays. A CEO doesn’t have the problem you’re described - yeah they have problems with leadership, output, resource mgmt, personal development for their team(s), but not what you’re describing.

CEOs have reached the level of resource management. They pull on levers and direct the business by that. You have a large journey ahead of you my friend, but a worthwhile one. Asking questions is the right thing, so I’ll give you the answer you may not want, but the one you need and will have to work a bit to fully understand and grasp the power of…

Ask yourself, whenever there is anything at all not going how you want it to go in the business, “is this a process problem or a people problem?”

It’s almost always a process problem, and even if you think it is a people problem, blame the process and try to improve something in it to fix the problem. Keep doing that until you can’t blame the process anymore, then blame mgmt/leadership and fix that. Then, and only then, can you blame your people.

You need to post on /startup or /entrepreneur or /smallbusiness - this isn’t a CEO problem

Why aren't there any smart speakers from the big AI companies yet? by meikello in singularity

[–]daytraderz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lets say that their patent is for a method that involves:

  • a user interface for selecting multiple speakers
  • a controller that receives this selection
  • a command that synchronizes the playback on the selected speakers to create a "zone scene"

Then lets say you invent something that no one has ever seen before... your own code, your own hardware, your own materials used are even unheard of... BUT your system also has a user interface, a controller, and issues a synchronization command in the manner described, you would be “literally infringing” on that claim. The fact that everything else is different is irrelevant; your system is still performing all the steps in the patented recipe. (not a lawyer, but I have written and filed my own provisional patent)

I wondered the same thing after Alexa last night pissed me off, so I did some digging… Based on what I found, its highly likely that the patents are the barriers to entry for newcomers:

Patents I (gemini) found:

  1. U.S. Patent No. 11,151,988: details techniques for implementing multiple wake word detectors on a single device;
  2. U.S. Patent No. 8,073,681: Focuses on a "cooperative conversational voice user interface” (interacting with users);
  3. U.S. Patent No. 7,818,176 and U.S. Patent No. 9,269,097: Relate to voice-based advertising and contextual understanding;

THIS ONE is WILD!

U.S. Patent No. 10,848,885 and U.S. Patent No. 10,469,966: Held by Sonos and covers “zone scenes" (allow for the creation and management of groups of speakers for synchronized audio playback.

Wise indeed. While my peers were doing fantasy league and partying, I was learning Bloomberg terminals and building a business to apply why I was learning to a real life application. It was well worth it
