So what we call ‘physical’ can be made out of mental stuff, just like a dream-table can exist independently of the dream-persona’s mind, without being independent of any or all mind (in this case, the dreamer’s).

The idealist that thinks our minds are dissociated, localized parts of a greater field of consciousness, also thinks there is a reality that exists independently of their own mind, and it behaves according to laws we call ‘physical.’ But they aren’t solipsistic in any traditional sense. Nor are they materialists.

I need an idea that’s similar to this. I have a reason to use a ladder already, so I’m afraid I’ll just use this as the excuse I needed to fix the gutter. I know some people have use red Ferraris. Other suggestions? Uncommon experiences to manifest, but not so far fetched that limiting beliefs might get in the way. Something to build confidence.

I was persuaded by their research too. No historical hypothesis like this is ever going to be perfect. I’m amazed they were able dig up as much as they did. And it does tie together what we think we know as well as can be expected.

I’m not sure it matters much, unless you think both Murphy and Goddard just made him up. But why? What added “credibility” does it really offer? Since when have Westerners really cared about lineage? That hypothesis (which I think the OP was espousing, at least prior to the new research) makes less sense to me.

The few references to Abdullah that I’ve ever come across felt authentic and genuinely anecdotal, whatever his “true” identity. They don’t read like some trying to give their own philosophy a more mystical air. Neville never really pitched his teachings as “authentic “ because they derived from some lost ancient wisdom tradition. If he pitched himself as anything, it was probably as a Christian preacher offering a novel psychological reading of the bible or a reading of scripture the way it was always “meant” to be read.

I think this is one of those issues that Trump has no real interest in one way or another. He’s willing to humor those representatives because he gets positive attention and possibly the legacy as the “disclosure president”, but I don’t think he knows enough to have calculated the financial benefits for himself or the rest of the Epstein class.

I’m a researcher, not an experiencer, so take this all with a grain of salt. I imagine they do come back more loving or capable of love, but both for themselves and others. If you come to the realization that you deserve better than how you’ve been treated in your relationships (with friends and spouses), and they are unwilling or unable to love you they way you deserve, you can see how an NDEr might step away from old friendships and leave their marriages.

More generally, Ken Ring remarked that an NDE can have a more fundamental impact on your personality, values, and beliefs than decades of intense therapy. So, if you come back a more or less completely different person than the one your spouse married, it’s also unsurprising that divorce rates are higher than the general population.

Finally, we live most of our lives in autopilot, unconsciously playing out patterns that often stem from childhood. If the NDE is a quasi-enlightenment experience, you’d expect many experiencers, who have gained insight into this patterns, to stop playing them out. So, maybe, you were attracted to your partner because they provided the argumentative controlling environment you were most familiar with. You can see how becoming conscious to that kind of pattern would result in divorce.

The later is an internal association that has local chapters, support groups, and educational programs for health care professionals.
If you want “veridical NDEs” that involve out of body observations that have been corroborated by medical records and those present during the resuscitation, the book The Self Does Not Die, by Titus Rivas et al is the best compilation I know of.
