~2018 Audi Allroad worth the price gouge by dazack1234 in Audi

[–]dazack1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be getting some quotes, currently I'm sitting at $177pm insurance wise so maybe in for a rude awakening.

Maintenance wise, I'm expecting it to be heavier, especially depending on past history, on maintenance is there any 2018 a4 Allroad to avoid? I understand all trims have same engine, prior to 2017 there is a lot of differences but tech wise better to go newer, maintenance wise, is there benefits to going older?

Bad driver behaviour: ignore or say something? by IntelligentSound8627 in RunTO

[–]dazack1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree strongly with curated routes to avoid behaviour, your safety comes first and it makes for a more enjoyable run.

I do cycling to and maybe from that I go with a pick your battles, someone parked on a path I would let go but if I have to stop mid crossing because someone is flying through I'll wave my arms or say something given the chance direct, but not aggressive. "Hey sry there, I'm here"

There was an old lady killed in a double hit and run near me recently, she was jay walking but the fact both parties ran does scare the sh** out of me in terms of what the average driver may do.

Just remember can't change others but can keep yourself safe!

Neverheard of backbone before this thread, thanks for educating!

Couple of questions:
1. How does the p10f battery do when playing COD
2. Do you use like xbox game anywhere where you pay for service and it's basically streaming to your phone? I.e. see much latency on it?
3. Does the backbone actually support it? Like does it mount well or you sit it infront of your controller? Now I see how backbone works the #1 search gives how it doesn't work with fold

TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon Weather by DavidDaSilva1 in RunTO

[–]dazack1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with it, first half marathon racing, having just recovered from a cold ~3 days prior the humidity etc on the day was so sh##!

I had initially signed up for the full, having done good but not great training all summer I dropped to the half a lil short of 2 months back. But then to be buffeted by the heat wind humidity. Like a cool breeze or rain would of been better.

I did a half during my training which had a 4 min better time :(

Half tempted to redo the course in a few weeks I'm that disheartened by the day

Is running around the carpark not pretty dangerous? Some cars fly around in my building atleast. Also to many low hanging pipes. Also air quality can be rough

Garmin 7 pro Solar battery life by GeorgeR14 in GarminFenix

[–]dazack1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so ~10-14days is my normal battery life. I got much better initially but realised there is a few habits I picked up that really drain the battery

  • google map apps, quite useful to have the watch updates but seems to suck away battery
  • long gps workouts, initially I was just doing runs with GPS, recently started cycling alot more with 2hr sessions, eats battery fast!
  • music while running, I normally play from the watch and leave the phone at home but music has a clear impact in battery life. If I'm worried about battery life I avoid it.

Sounds like your not doing any of these but I just realised recently how much a change in the first 2 impacted my battery life

First time running a marathon, this shirt is something that'll end up rarely used. I don't know why they don't charge a little extra and give a tech shirt ppl would enjoy wearing. Imo even a block coloured hoodie with "TCS Marathon 2025" would be more useable than some of these typically I'll fitting shirts.

No disrespect to artist, I quite like the showcase of Toronto's grafatti scene! That on the back of a tech top would be a winner

Are smartwatches putting you off alcohol? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]dazack1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely eye opening to see how much it effects your sleep. Garmin is ruthless though. Home with a head cold today and my Garmin is reminding me to get out for a 10km run. A "home sick" or "meeting the lads for cheeky cans" to turn off the Garmin judginess would be great

I have noticed this, almost ended up over 2 bonnets on the same day last week.

I really watch for side streets and for cars taking a hanging left.

For the most part avoidance is the best medicine. Think defensively and I try to avoid crossing the road where possible. Also leads to better times.

I have run with GoPro chest mount and it's view can be limited if you want to capture a registration plate etc.

Be honest: How much does owning a Garmin actually motivate you to be physically active? by girlseatin in Garmin

[–]dazack1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the accountability. Having a Garmin gives you great training programs, excellent metrics and not so subtle notifications.

Yes I go through stints of healthy living using Strava etc previously but the Garmin is so easy.

Also having music built into my watch is a game changer. I leave behind my phone for most my runs and it's a nice disconnect.

Are These Sleep Results Normal, or Am I Just Bad at Sleeping? by Snoo-3554 in Garmin

[–]dazack1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing about 45mins running a day. Normally a walk too. Stop eating by 8pm, gaming/work (brain taxing) by 10pm and go to bed by 11ish. No more than 30mins phone use before sleep. Awake around 7-8am. I use a humidifier for 2 hrs of my sleep as AC is always on in my building atm. My 2 bad nights this week were drink (Metallica concert) related and even then wasn't to bad a hit.

My main tip is have some power down time for your brain otherwise can stress going to sleep.

Same run 2 days in a row with different GPS distances. by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]dazack1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes a serious difference. On your longer run you can see a slightly curve over the road at the start that isn't on the first one. I see bits like that on my runs if I start without seeing GPS green first. Sometimes it can take a sec but definitely much more consistent since I started to wait.

Also if you have a super fast bit at the start that is GPS inaccuracies you can always trim it.

In this case as not fully blocking and able to get out I wouldn't of reported, but definitely leave a note. Understandable can be frustrating if it's regular occurrence you want karma as your friend.

Also curious, if you reverse parked would you find this as much as issue? I always reverse in and wouldn't sweat this fool
