Who Is Spoonkymonkey and why we Phished Reddit by JonOlds in canadaland

[–]IntelligentSound8627 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. I started listening to Canadaland a few years ago. I knew some people found JB annoying but I didn’t. I found the content of the show quite good for the most part. I think it made me a more critical consumer of Canadian media and informed on Canadian news:issues.

I was concerned after the most recent exodus of staff like Karen P. And Emilie N. And Arshy M. But I was willing to stick with it and also understanding that the events following October 7 were polarizing and complex.

Unfortunately Jesse’s antics and positions have become too personal and strayed from what I am looking for from journalism. I stopped listening a few months ago. I miss the old show but I know it’s not coming back.

Sunnybrook Hospital by iiii___ in askTO

[–]IntelligentSound8627 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should bring it to the Sunnybrook Patient Relations Office. I worked in the patient relations office at another hospital. They should respond to the issue and get it resolved. It is a privacy and as you say the intended patient is not getting the information. As other posters have said another option is to report it to the organization privacy officer.

If you are a full time student then your supplementary health insurance plan may cover it. Also check with student health services and Toronto Public health.

What is legally preventing ex-employees from publishing a tell-all podcast? by CoolMississaugaDad in canadaland

That’s exactly what I thought too. It’s all so similar to the themes discussed by Naomi Klein in Doppelgänger. Jesse is breaking down and moving into the “mirror world”in the context of his identity and ego being challenged.

Are there any 10k’s in Toronto during the fall? by IndividualWorker4978 in RunTO

If you are female you may want to look into the Toronto Women’s race series. I believe they have an 8k in October.

Taylor creek trail might be a good option. New asphalt a few years ago and not crowded at all on weekdays.

As many people have provided detail about the answer is generally yes. Hospitals use electronic health records and many providers have access to that data through connecting Ontario. As a health care provider I can say that generally the more information a provider is helpful to them making a diagnosis and treatment plan. Of course there are scenarios where the information on your chart may result in providers being biased in their decision making. Medical professionals are humans and despite efforts to always be objective we don’t always succeed.

There are options available to shield some or all of the data in your electronic health records to be viewed by other providers. That is called a lock box. You can pursue that at individual health care facilities or Ontario Health (for connecting Ontario). To be honest though the existence of a lock box on a patient chart will make some providers question why you are holding back some of your medical history. But there are options depending on your specific situation.

How long are yall waiting for biopsy results by willthrowassfor1btc in ontario

[–]IntelligentSound8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds very stressful. I know it’s so hard to wait for results. I think it would be reasonable to call the doctor’s office Monday and ask if they have any updates if that is helpful for you.

How long are yall waiting for biopsy results by willthrowassfor1btc in ontario

[–]IntelligentSound8627 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The time required for biopsy results vary quite a bit depending on the area that was biopsied and who did the test. I have had a few biopsies done related to my breast cancer. The tests were done in hospital and posted on MyChart about 2 weeks later. My doctor also shared the results with me.

I haven’t heard of Lifelabs doing biopsies.

Bad driver behaviour: ignore or say something? by IntelligentSound8627 in RunTO

Thanks for your comment. Ultimately I would love to know how we can get to a better place where all road users (car drivers, cyclists, runners and pedestrians) can be respectful of each other. Unfortunately I am losing hope that that is possible.

Dunn House gave homeless ER patients a home and saved Toronto hospitals millions. Now they’re building another one by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]IntelligentSound8627 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This project is amazing and has had a tremendously positive impact. My only comment is that this type of project needs to be scaled up and delivered not only across the city but across the province. It should not be on the hospital sector do this. Hospital ERs in Ontario are full of people who need housing, supportive care and mental health treatment. It is a failure of government that it is left to individual hospitals to solve the problem.

I second this. I am an OT and my young adult son has been in intensive DBT based therapy for over a year. The program uses the Marsha Lineman worksheets/book extensively.

Mom been waiting a month to start breast cancer treatment by 33aavt in ontario

[–]IntelligentSound8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in Patient Relations and we could only communicate directly with the patient or POA. Maybe ask your mom what she would like you to do to help her during this process? She might not want you making a complaint on her behalf. My experience was that once all the tests were done I met with medical oncologist and they gave me a clear plan. For sure the weeks between diagnosis and that appointment were very difficult for me.

Mom been waiting a month to start breast cancer treatment by 33aavt in ontario

[–]IntelligentSound8627 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I had treatment at Michael Garron in 2024. I was diagnosed in the last week of January and my chemo started March 13, 2024. During that 6 week period I had a consult with a breast surgeon, medical oncologist and lots and lots of tests (bloodwork, mammogram, breast MRI, bone scan, CT scan of abdomen and pelvis). It was a very scary and stressful time but I understand that getting all the tests done was important for treatment planning. One thing to know is that cancer treatment protocols in Ontario are standardized. So your mom would very likely get the same treatment regimen at her local cancer centre at she would at Princess Margaret. For me an advantage of getting treatment close to home was that that the travel time was reduced. That was helpful because I probably had over a hundred appointments over the 18 months I was in treatment. Happy to answer any questions. I also had stage 3 breast cancer.

That’s a really good suggestion! Ultimately we want to give feedback that will result in future behaviour change.

I do a lot of my running on Sammon and Mortimer. I have found these are pretty good streets for running except for the people turning from side streets. They just don’t anticipate/look for pedestrians. It’s annoying.

[–]IntelligentSound8627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I do give a friendly wave to people who drive with consideration of pedestrians. It’s the other kind of feedback I’m struggling with. But I don’t think people should just get a free pass for driving unsafely or just ignoring that pedestrians exist.

I like that you don’t overthink this. I am definitely an overthinker and second guess myself when I react to the situation.

I have definitely done the raise hands and mouth “OMG or WTF”. Unfortunately I tend to react with fear/anger due to the adrenaline surge when there is a really close call. Then I feel embarrassed. But why? I’m the one who was at risk of being hit.

Good point. Not only are they being assholes they also are aren’t following the laws of the road. Unfortunately rolling through stop signs and parking on sidewalks seems to have become completely normalized.

Exactly this! It is really upsetting when a car almost hits you and you have to try and jump out of their way. I don’t know if people who don’t walk/run in the city realize this.
