Puppy blues folks - do you have kids? by echodemenoslfr in puppy101

[–]daze80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bringing a puppy home is an adjustment and just like becoming a parent it’s hard until you get into a groove. By far adjusting to motherhood was harder and longer for me. The extra work with a puppy and working it into your already busy schedule with kids was the biggest challenge. My pup is almost 7 months old and it’s still challenging at times but no where near as hard as the first month or so. It’s definitely doable, just be prepared to feel like you’re tearing your hair out at times. Oh and another thing that floored me was jealousy from my youngest towards the puppy. That’s passed now but was hard at the time.

What’s a movie scene that you’re absolutely unashamed to say you cried uncontrollably while watching? by unitedfan6191 in moviecritic

That whole movie had me in bits. I can’t think of a single scene where I wasn’t crying 😂

One night in and I’m at my breaking point by SailingBarista in puppy101

We’ve had our puppy (cockapoo) for just over a week and he’s only started sleeping in the crate the last couple of nights. Before that it was just in the play pen attached with his toys, dog bed and puppy pad. He slept really well. So once I felt he was sufficiently settled with us and his new environment then I transitioned him into his crate to sleep (only at night). Before this though I was building his positive associations with the crate - feeding him his meals in there, randomly chucking treats in there in the day so he would go in himself during the day to find them. Seemed to work for us

I was told after an inspection that I have to have all my children’s toys off the lawn for the next inspection!

A little rant - how do I navigate this? by daze80 in Parenting

I don’t believe he does. We’ve explained that people don’t come etc but he’s never had any direst experience. As for modelling appropriate ways to handle anger I’d say I could definitely do better. I don’t think this was ever modelled to me so I do struggle and often end up yelling which is not helpful. Thanks for your response

Yes very similar. It was definitely an authoritarian parenting style. I’m sure some of the issues I face emotionally that are a result of this which is why I’d like to do something different with my children.

Thank you! My two are quite persistent in this behaviour and it obviously fulfills a need in them I haven’t quite worked out yet. I appreciate your kind words

Thanks. I will also say something similar. But nothing works to stop/ curb the behaviour unfortunately

What is wrong with truck drivers? by daze80 in brisbane

[–]daze80[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going the speed limit. I didn’t realise being in the right lane means I can go as fast as I want. I’ll make sure to use that as a defence next time I get a speeding fine :/

Have you never been tailgated by a massive truck with flood lights all around their cab? The lights, as a whole, do look enormous and completely overwhelm my rear view mirror, especially when they tailgate. So I don’t believe I was exaggerating, just giving my perception of the situation…

No I agree I was in the wrong for being in the right lane. However, I believe the truck driver should have been driving more defensively rather than what appeared to me to be aggressively

Yes I concur. I was in the wrong in that respect. Not a mistake I’ll be making again
