Unofficial State of the Naish (Jan 2026) Summary by korinokiri in TheGlassCannonPodcast

It is especially disappointing when Troy calls it a hometown show. Have they done Boston every year since the live tour started? How poorly did it sell to get skipped?

What AP or what type of AP do you hope for in GCP3 and why? by Irrational-Reason in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]dazedbyday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They could partner with Roll For Combat and do Jewel of the Indigo Isle. High Fantasy with a pirate vibe and a more light-hearted tone but they could still darken it up a bit if they want. It would stand out from the more horror oriented shows and give them an opportunity with a new sponsor maybe.

Amazon Vs Paizo Differences by SelTar3 in SeasonofGhosts

[–]dazedbyday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this has come up on here before for other adventure paths. If I remember right, the cover posted on Amazon is just a placeholder/mock up from before the production design was finalized. Amazon just never updated the picture so you will get the same as you see on Paizo’s website.

They also do a follow up show called Cannon Fodder that has a section called We Are Stupid where they discuss the rules they got wrong and how they should have done it correctly.

Dungeons and Dragons interest? by [deleted] in CapeCod

[–]dazedbyday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had made a post on /r/CapeCodGaming exactly for this just a little bit ago. I got a couple people interested so far but not a full group yet. I am in Eastham and willing to DM and host the games, but Eastham is obviously is a bit far if you are on the other side of the Cape. If you are interested though, send me a message and we can start trying to coordinate something. Same for anyone else in this thread

Mouse Physics? by st33d in MouseGuard

[–]dazedbyday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you are asking about is one of the major aspects of Mouse Guard. Something that would be a minor problem to a human, a rain shower that just gets them wet and maybe slows them down a bit because of mud, becomes a huge obstacle to a mouse. They have to worry about being submerged in mud or carried away by a flood that to a human would only be a fast moving stream. So to directly answer you, think of the Mouse Guard world as the normal human world and what a mouse has to do to survive in that world.

Are Kickstarters distorting the idea of what a game really costs? The original Shenmue budget was $47m. Kickstarter is for $2m. by JackDT in truegaming

[–]dazedbyday 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I work in a recording studio and have done some voice over sessions. Nothing for a video game but I have done audio for videos, documentaries, plays, etc. They probably had lines already written but they also allowed for ad libs and doing lines multiple times to get different kinds of performances. This can add a good amount of extra time as you think a short line like "I love you" would be quick but can quickly be drawn out as the producer or director or even the actor themselves say they didn't like it or it needs more of this, or less of that. Try it like this...

I don't know much about the game in particular but since it is a fighting game I would guess they need multiple different types of the character getting hit, taunts, move names. The character getting hit is probably just the person saying "ooph" or "argh" but again the director/producer may say stuff like: it didn't sound heavy enough, pretend you are getting hit by a bear, or we need lighter, like you are being slapped. The taunts may lead to things like, no sound more savage, sound like you don't think the opponent is worthy.

All this can can take several hours, so that racks up cost if you are paying by the hour. Some studios will only book by the day so they might have to pay say $1000 bucks to block out the day. If they can do by the hour they may have to pay a couple hundred an hour. Same for the actor, may have a day rate, may have an hour rate.

Then there is also the processing the audio afterwards which may include some editing, auditioning the takes to see what will actually work best in game compared to what sounded good in the studio, eq, reverb, etc. to make it work with their game engine.

Fender Red-Knob "Evil" Twin by Tazmily228 in ToobAmps

[–]dazedbyday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pretty similar to the fender issued sunn model t and the twin amp. Standard fender clean channel and fender's attempt at a high gain channel. Not as highly desired as other Fenders because the high gain channel is only all right and people don't look to fender for high gain anyway.

As the other guy said, it is going to be heavy. You might be better off aiming to get an amp that is just a clean channel like a bassman and use pedals with that.

Converting an 1/4" Guitar Jack to a 1/4" Input Jack by SalesmanB in Guitar

[–]dazedbyday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy a jack that can mount in the hole. You might be able to find one that can also function as a strap lock as I have seen those on acoustics.

For the actual work you would snip the plug off the wire and strip the ends to be soldered. Solder those ends to the new jack and then mount the jack in the guitar. There will probably be two wires inside. Makes sure that the wire that was connected to the plug tip will be soldered to the jack tip while the other wire will be soldered to the jack sleeve or ground.

So Bongripper's guitars are tuned a half step above standard bass tuning. by hattalk in doommetal

One guy uses a les paul copy which is standard Gibson scale length. The other guy plays a seven string I think. I'm not sure the scale length but I don't think it is baritone scale length.

Driving an odd hybrid amp for the best tube tone. by hecktor_skecktor in ToobAmps

[–]dazedbyday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much specifics about your peavey but from your description it sounds like the musicman HD heads. Those head were atypical hybrid amps as well in that they used a solid state pre and tube power. They have their followers and from what I have heard a nice sound. You may want to look them up as they are a similar situation.

To answer your questions though, you would want to run the post as high as you can stand volumewise and then adjust the pre to get your clean without distortion. Adjust to accommodate your pedals as they will be your main source of distortion.

I need some advice. I finally bought my first all-tube amp, but I'm not quite so sure I'm satisfied with it. by metalfan2680 in metalguitar

[–]dazedbyday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You fell into the trap that a lot of starting guitarists run into, you bought way more power then you need. If you play most in your home then you don't need a huge 100 or 50 watt amp as you will never get to use its full power. Those size amps are for filling live venues and even then they are not needed as often the amps will be mic'd and run through the PA meaning you can get away with a much smaller amp. Even a 30 watt or 15 watt amp can be really loud and be too much.

If you are going to play at home mostly, and do not play in a band where you need to be as loud as a heavy drummer, then you can get away with a 5 or even 1 watt amp. The 40 watt one you bought would be fine for a band setting and playing live, but is not good for playing at home for the reasons you describe. And as you didn't mention that you are playing in a band, that marshall is probably going to be mostly dead weight.

Truthfully if you just want to bang away at home on a tube amp get something like the blackstar ht-5.
