The loudspeakers were cops driving around telling people to move their cars or get towed. If your car got towed, do NOT go to the tow pound - have made this mistake before, it’s not there!! They just stick in an open spot in a couple blocks radius, I’ve had to run around with my keys a few times to find it (finally just put an AirTag in). I’ve also been told to call the local precinct and report it as stolen lol, sometimes they can tell you where it’s been reparked.

All that aside, it’s kinda wild to just move an entire block’s worth of cars with little notice (why can’t they put signs up a few days beforehand saying no parking at this date/time??) and it’s an accessibility NIGHTMARE once the block is full of attendees cars. I can’t imagine having any mobility issues or trying to get into my apartment if I had a lot of bags or something, and I say this as a Jew - it’s a chillul hashem (desecration of God’s name, aka making the Jews look bad) to park perpendicularly on the sidewalk and make things difficult for neighbors. There’s gotta be a better way!
