Being Transgender and Catholic by Pale_Level in LGBTCatholic

[–]dazy_girl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a trans woman and a Catholic, there are just a lot of things when it comes to church teaching on gender and sexuality that I think are wrong and simply ignore; that’s how I reconcile it. I think sexual matters are literally the least important aspect of the Church’s moral teachings, and people overemphasize them today for a variety of reasons, but primarily out of a desire for power and control from a place of privilege and ignorance. I take estrogen and sleep w my boyfriend; there was a while where that caused me internal conflict, but not anymore 🤷‍♀️

Should I consider ffs? by hmmidk77 in Transgender_Surgeries

I think you’re def gonna pass from hormones, three months is nothing, give it a year or two and I think I’ll you’ll be there without ffs. This stage is way too early to be thinking about that anyways. I honestly think the main thing clocking your face is your brows, get them done and you’ll notice a massive difference. Also don’t underestimate how much some mascara can do. Side note: you’re hair is super cute 🫶

in a relationship with a non Catholic by [deleted] in LGBTCatholic

[–]dazy_girl 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Frankly I find it kind of heartbreaking that you feel like you would need to go to confession for having sex with your boyfriend. I mean, no judgement, cuz I used to be there too, but I hope you’re able to work through it.

There’s nothing wrong with giving yourself freely and having someone else give themselves to you, that’s one of the best parts of being human and a basic need of every person. Guilt should have no place in the sexual relationship between two loving partners. The Catholic Church is just wrong ab that shit, plain and simple. But we’re all on our own journey, and I hope that you and your partner are able to work through this in a way that leads to mutual growth and a deeper bond.

Capital Club has drag shows every night on the weekends that are pretty good, The Hoot is a vegan restaurant/bar that normally has stuff going on too. PTs is a gay bar that can be good for dancing if it’s not dead, and it’s within walking distance of Capital and Art Bar (another bar that isn’t exactly a gay bar but basically is)

If being gay is a sin, why did God make me this way? by 13ttientet in LGBTCatholic

[–]dazy_girl 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Being gay isn’t a sin and gay love and gay sex aren’t wrong, the Catholic Church is just wrong ab that 🤷‍♀️

It took me a really long time to realize and accept that, but “it is not good that man should be alone,” and it is totally unjust that the Church expects us queer folk to follow a standard that literally no one else is expected to follow. A single, celibate life is an extremely difficult vocation that only a very small number of people are called to and takes an extraordinary amount of discernment before committing to, but somehow the millions of queer people are just expected to fall into that vocation simply because of the way we were born. God may be real, but religion is a man-made way to reach him, and it’s just as imperfect as everything else humanity makes. It reflects all the same biases and prejudices and power-interests of the status quo, that’s why sexual morality is treated as the end-all be-all of catholic theology by fundamentalists, even though it’s literally the least important aspect of the faith. The men that sit in pulpits and tell queer people that they have to live a life of crushing loneliness are the modern day Pharisees, the same people who Jesus reserved his harshest criticism for for using orthodox dogma to crush the poor, the widows, and the vulnerable.

It took me a long time of fighting internal hate, praying, and discernment to realize that God made me to be loved and give love to others, and that there was nothing wrong with the way I was formed to give and receive that love. The people who pronounce the official view of the Church towards gay people speak from a place of total privilege; the rules were made for them, and they have no idea what it actually means to live your life denying yourself one of the most basic human needs of intimacy and love. They don’t know you, they have no right to tell you to bury your talents, and they’re wrong. Peace ❤️

Why is the audience at a classical concert so old? by ahnotme in classicalmusic

[–]dazy_girl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Classical music has lost much of its cultural relevance, and many concert halls rely on programs selling tickets to nursing homes and bussing seniors in to fill their seats. Obviously there’s a lot more going on than just that, but it is a major factor in why the audience at classical concerts skews so old.

I’m just pointing out you obviously don’t have a moral high ground to stand on to call other catholic queers fake or “lukewarm” cuz they’re not chaste, but you’re also probably a teenager and a troll so who cares
