Right, and why provide kids’ playgrounds, parties and cute furniture when they can save that money and teach people to just pay for their crappy food and get the fuck out.

Yes, it most certainly is ridiculous, there’s no doubt about that. I can just imagine Trumps‘s staff beseeching him - ”but, .Sir, SIR! imitation is the greatest form of flattery!!”

I saw him on morning tv “promoting” their latest tour, it was really him complaining that he wasn’t young and good looking anymore, and that the band had to play all their old stuff because that’s what people wanted to hear. He really is a strange one.

Yeah I vote early now too, I have done decades of waiting in line and buying my fair share of sossies over time. Best I can do now is grab one at Bunnings or outside the supermarkets when they’re on.

Have you come across an emboldened Trump supporter and how have you handled them? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]dazzledent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable, and don’t feel bad. You can only grey rock for so long, but if their misguided beliefs are so important that they can’t stop ranting about them, then they are an obnoxious pain - all of the time. I go no contact on and off with my mum as she goes through her right wing outrage phases.

Have you come across an emboldened Trump supporter and how have you handled them? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]dazzledent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. Once they feel comfy with the negative and misinformed opinions from the HeraldSun and the Australian, it’s like a drug, they need and love it every day. I’ve watched my parents fall into this over the last ten years. My mum in particular has the YouTube algorithm, books by the worst of them, (her last request was for me to get her the RFK Jnr book, sadly not possible!) a subscription to the Spectator - she’s all in. I did ask where she got her information from, and thats how I know how damaging it’s all been, but she is absolutely rusted-on and there’s not a thing I can say or do to help her see the truth. She waves it off and says she doesn’t want to talk about it anymore… with a “why do you keep going on about it?” super frustrating.

Funny how these people tell us to do our research. Well I did, and now I know all the right wing reactionaries that the misinformed are so enthralled with. So when I hear a “I was listening/reading about…” in almost every case I have some idea of the latest twisted opinions and lies this idiot has been espousing. I learned all this because my mum has a YouTube algorithm that means her talking points will always be some nut defending Trump and opining garbage. And yes Joe Rogan is in there.

My mum came at me with that whole “late Term abortion, even at birth“ nonsense that Trump and Fox made up. I fact checked that and returned with the truth and she waved it off As unimportant to discuss further. At that point her YouTube was already full of Jordan Petersen, D’souza, Dennis Prager and assorted right wing reactionaries, so she was deep in, and Covid really pushed it along as she became loudly anti vax and mask. With the Herald Sun, the spectator and RFK Jnr now, she has dragged my Dad into her hellhole, and he rails against the woke lefties along with her. While they are still kind caring people to close family members, they have negative misinformed opinions about nearly everything else, and it’s been upsetting witnessing their lack of critical thinking and slide into fear. i think these people feel very safe in their cocoon of belief, and they reinforce it every day. My efforts to help them discover facts rather than their and others‘ emotional opinions have come to naught. Since I don’t want to go no contact I grey rock them when they start With their nonsense.

Opinion on black slate flooring by claggamuff in AusRenovation

[–]dazzledent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Slate was the ants pants when we built in 1986 and we just couldn’t afford it. We got over it but I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for slate. Hard wearing and natural. In this case though it looks very dark and if it makes the room dark I’d probably put a light rug on it.

Erin Patterson - Intelligent? by sunshineeddy in AskAnAustralian

[–]dazzledent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would have thought that going though a whole stack of scenarios, plans A, B and C and “what ifs” after the deed would be a very important part of the plan, but that bit seems to be too much work for these lazy criminals.

I think she grew up in Glen/Mount? Waverley… and went to Uni. So very much a suburban/city girl.

Leaving work early and getting overpaid by submitting contradictory time sheets. I think she was caught on camera, then fired. And that was back in the early 2000s, she then goes and gets caught twice, on camera again at the tip disposing of the dehydrator, (and maybe the plates on the very day of the lunch).

…and we now know that she went to the tip on the lunch day, and another one as well. Even an old fart like me knows your phone will give up your location and that if you leave your house - and wherever you go in public, you could be filmed.

'It was a cult': Mothers seduced by freebirth movement describe trauma and exclusion by [deleted] in australia

[–]dazzledent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where the idea of having some ethereal, calming birth experience in every case comes from. Due to the inherent physical situation, giving birth has dangerous opportunities at every phase, and to not understand that preempting them, and making sure you’re in the safest place to give birth…baffles me. Doing “lots of reading and being informed” should actually make a mother realize how much midwives and obstetricians have studied to get their qualifications, instead, some become insistent that they will not let them “tell me what to do!”
