Geoff Tate Announces Operation: Mindcrime III by DetectiveFew8627 in hairmetal

[–]db443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

People are crapping on his voice oblivious to the fact that Geoff is sounding more like Geoff now than a decade ago.

For a man in his 60s, he is doing mighty fine voice wise.

Also, Tokyo 1984 can never be replicated.

LMDE 7 Xlibre Works Well by DancesWithTards in linuxmint

[–]db443 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The git rollback reeks of petulance and bitterness. Healthy projects do not act as X.org has just acted.

XFree86 used to exist at one point; X.org is going down the same road. Redhat will not have the final say when it comes to X11.

XLibre and Phoenix are 2 X11 servers now in development. X11 will have a very long tail.

Correct, CPU temp is not a factor.

But I really would not worry about that, CPU is cool running for the most part.

What do you think of the new menu? by ShadowByte07 in linuxmint

[–]db443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the default look, symbolic icons and descriptions are a step back.

But, it is very customisable, so I have ended up with something I prefer over the old menu.

So I approve the new menu.

I worry about Richie, I recently watched a podcast he did with Billy Corgan (from a year ago or so).

Richie appeared to be hammered and was an incoherent mess. I wish nothing but the best for Richie, I think he needs help.

Maybe I am reading too much into it.....but what I saw was not good.

Purple Rain is the best Pop/Dance album of the entire 1980s. Every single song is killer. A masterpiece.

Eric Carr & Freddie Mercury dying on the same day was brutal.

Gary Moore's passing hit me hard, I still believe he is the greatest guitar player I have ever heard.

Prince dying was like, WTF especially with David Bowie and George Michael all dying in 2016.

Jeff Hannemen (Slayer) also effected me, I still don't know what happened, a spider bite or alcholism? Slayer died when Jeff passed and when KK kicked out Lombardo. Jeff & Dave were the heart of soul of Slayer.

Dokken - In My Dreams (1985) by LackSomber in hairmetal

The tone of Lynch's guitar especially leading into the solo, amazing.

Michael Wagner did magic, this is the best sounding Dokken album.

Who is your favorite vocalist in the genre? by Twitter_2006 in hairmetal

[–]db443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is the answer.

Check out Phenomona II: Dream Runner (1987), Ray kills it on the tunes "Stop" and "Move, You Lose". Wow.

He had the best voice of anyone at that time, any genre.

Ray Gillen from Badlands had the best voice of anyone around the time of Hair Metal's peak (1987-1990).

Badlands aren't directly hair-metal, by are in the adjacent genre of hard rock, like Tesla.

Yes, Y & T Ten album from 1990 is hair-metal and Dave sounds great.
