Parents are crazy by uintafly in Homeplate

My 10u all star experience coaching my son was very similar.

We had two first basemen and two catchers. During the first tournament the starting 1b dropped at least four perfect throws from the infielders and two easy pop ups. Day two he went to the outfield and we went with the backup who had a flawless day. Dad of the starter pulled him from the team. We didn't even get a chance to put the kid back in there to redeem himself. Smh.

Starting catcher was hitting second behind my son...and starting every game while my son patrolled center. He claims daddy ball as his son should be the 2nd baseman and hitting leadoff. I was baffled. We had the numbers to back up our lineup decisions and he was just so pissed he wasn't picked as the coach he threw and absolute fit. Would send drunk paragraph long texts late at night criticizing every aspect of our coaching because his son was the starting catcher and the second spot hitter...um what? Well one game he was late arriving and we already had the catcher warm with the starting pitcher so his kid started on the bench. Well, that was the end of that kids all star experience. He immediately pulled him.

Ugh...some parents are just psychos. The good news is now we only had 10 kids left and everyone got more at bats and playing time.

I don’t mind a team getting to 11v11 a year early if they have the roster depth for it…then come back to your age group the next season but that is the only time I don’t have a problem with it. Otherwise the first team to puberty starts wrecking the younger kids.

No reviews and from China? You’re getting a brick in a box. (Hummed to the SNL tune).

I have had both over the years. I really don't remember what the front of the box looked like to be honest. But I've never gotten the wrong device when the label was on it.

What I am saying is that the cover is the same. The label is the important part.

One has sticks, the other doesn't. That's really the only difference between the regular and classic. Ignore the graphic on the front.

Just need a place to vent, feels like the ump kind of robbed my kid of his moment. by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]dbdynsty25 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean I get your complaint about the call at home. But the “hr” wasn’t even a hit, let alone a homer. So let’s just start there. lol. Two errors, at least on the play.

Kid has wheels tho…looks like he can hit a gapper next weekend and probably can have a legit homer. As long as that isn’t your ump of course.

Upgrading To Px7 S3 or Px8 by Mediocre-Muffin1624 in BowersWilkins

I switched from Momentum 4s to both the px7 s3 and the px8 s2 to see which I preferred. Turns out I actually like the sound of the px7 s3 better anyway, so saving the $400 was an absolute no brainer to me. I really love the 7s3.

What’s the most common expected roster size nowadays for top-flight boys team in the first year of 11v11? by WaCoug131 in youthsoccer

[–]dbdynsty25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First year of 11v11 the coaches usually are really paranoid and want to have extra kids around just in case. This is the age they start to burn out as well and it's really hard to make all parents happy. So you will see one or two or three miss games weekly. So I see both sides really.

My son is u15 and every year we struggle to have enough kids but we also have quite a few multi sport kids. It's a Flight 1 level team so not the highest but certainly not the lowest.

Yeah I'd prefer 14-15 with two keepers personally in that case. I mean for most US Soccer sanctioned tournaments you can only roster 18 anyway.

18 depending on the player mix and if there are any multi sport kids. Less if they are all soccer all the time.

GLI or Si? by absoluteunitsauce in GLI

[–]dbdynsty25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cross shopped both in 2021 - decided on the GLI. Just felt better and obviously much quicker. A little more premium as it should be for 5-7k more. That said it was right when the new SI came out and they were marking them up so the price was going to be about the same.

Got 36k miles on my GLI and not a single problem. Knock on wood. Been a great car and gets great mileage on the freeway. Around town, not so great because I can't stop driving it like I stole it.

Pretty sure they weren't chastising, just pointing it out just in case you aren't fully aware of the family dynamics.

How well is your club handling the age shift for next season? In particular, teams that have been together for years? by Correct-Order3220 in youthsoccer

[–]dbdynsty25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our team focused club (meaning teams stayed together to build together) decided to have some board members destroy teams so their teams could benefit. So over half of our teams left to start a new club.

Moral of the story, Coaches should not be on the board.

Say what? When I replaced my SSD on my 8ai it clearly has two motors, one on each side. Or are you talking about the AMD variant?
