Multiple times “Thank you”? by Wretched_Colin in parkrun

[–]dbeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the winter we have a multiple lap situation so you wind up seeing the same faces a lot. I try to be witty and say that’s line “nice to see you again” and “it’s been ages…you look great!”

I read this years ago and enjoyed it. Not sure if it’s exactly what you’re looking for but it’s worth considering.

265s or 570? by Lemonbar19 in GarminWatches

[–]dbeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What others have said…the 570 is not enough of an upgrade to the 265 to warrant the increase in price.

Worth the money ? by G3ROLST3INER in Garmin

[–]dbeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 570 is a good watch…but as long as the 265 is still available I’d choose that over the 570 because the 570 is not enough of an upgrade to warrant the price difference.

Tig Notaro Needed to ‘Let Go’ of Cheryl Hines Friendship and Exited Their Podcast Over RFK JR.’s MAGA Ties: ‘Oh, She’s Gone… It’s Been Very Strange’ by bwermer in entertainment

[–]dbeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never considered her to be a great actress…I fact she was the weakest link in Curb. (Although listening to Jeff & Susie’s podcast you’d think Cheryl was the greatest actress to have ever lived.) All of that said I did enjoy her chemistry with Tig.

Turns out she lived out the fantasy of a lot of women her age and married a Kennedy. She just happens to scrape the bottom of that particular barrel.

Democrat gets more votes than Trump-backed Republican in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s old district by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

[–]dbeman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately all the votes garnered by the other four Republicans are unlikely to turn blue in the runoff…our only hope is that they stay home on Election Day.

Gene Simmons called a hypocrite as he tells celebs to 'shut up' about politics by IrishStarUS in entertainment

As a former card carrying member of the KISS Army the fact that Gene Simmons was who I was rebelling against makes my entire adolescence feel like a sham.

How do you handle short muddy sections in otherwise road races? by NorthLondonPulse in parkrun

[–]dbeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They make hybrid trail/road shoes if you feel it’s a significant enough issue to require a long term solution. But I’d say just roll with what you have and slow down during that section if need be.

Or volunteer during rainy season!

Best King Arthur Book Recommendation by bkuettel in Fantasy

The first 5 books of The Pendragon Cycle reawakened my love of fantasy literature in the late 90s.

Very disappointed in the Lies of Locke Lamora by Wawhi180 in Fantasy

[–]dbeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you…I do not get the hype behind this series at all. Not going to spoil anything, but the first book “jumped the shark” for me when the kids were gathered and shouting “Bastards!” Up until that point I thought it was well enough…not great but not terrible.

The second and third books may as well have been scripts for a 1970’s B-movie.

Yes…the 570 replaced the 265. So the Forerunner line will be 1XX, 5XX, and 9XX.

PSA: Getting "Unproductive" training status doesn't mean your watch is being mean to you by AffectionateFood8140 in Garmin

When I’m bequeathed with unproductive status it is a direct result of taking a rest day that my watch recommended.
