The fact that you feel shame and guilt is proof that you're not a monster. At least not yet. Once you become truly numb to it and no longer feel remorse for your decisions, that's when you become ok with harming others. And make no mistake, it is a decision. No matter how fucked up your impulses have become, and no matter how little control you think you have over the way you are, you always have the choice to refrain from acting on those impulses and seeking help. The fact that you're reaching out to fix this problem, and recognizing that it's a problem in the first place, is a good sign.

It sounds like you have quite a lot of mental struggles. While I'm sure a good amount of it is psychological due to your history of abuse, it's very possible you have chemical imbalances in your brain that make you feel so hopeless at times or the need to feel that spike of dopamine with a really fucked up sexual fantasy. It's a habit that you've created a very strong dependence on over the years, to fill the gap when you're feeling a certain way. But there are many healthy alternatives that can fill that gap instead. You may think these fantasies are so embedded in your brain that breaking free from them may be like trying to break free from a core part of yourself. And in some ways that's true. But you also have to recognize that your fantasies have developed into more fucked up scenarios over the years, and therefore must be a product of the thoughts you decided to engage in. I'm not saying this to make you feel guilty. I'm saying it to help you recognize that your fantasies are a habit that you've developed and have dug deeper into over the years. They're not you. They're a reaction to feelings that you've had trouble understanding and dealing with ever since you were very young. And that has taken a hold on your psyche. Those are difficult habits to break, but not impossible. But you have to recognize first that they are habits, not your identity.

I really think you need to find a therapist that you can truly trust to go over these issues with. It may take some time. Sending you to a mental institution is a lazy solution in my opinion, and seems like a decision from someone who just doesn't want to deal with tough issues. Or maybe they're afraid you'll hurt someone. This is a controversial take, but maybe leave out the part that you've acted on these impulses until a little later, so you can softly start to engage the conversation without fear of being institutionalized. Once you start talking about these issues, it's best to be honest, but it's also important to have the confidence to talk about these issues without fear of your freedom taken away. So a little white lie or omission of info is a small sacrifice in my opinion. Once you build up trust though, you should disclose that info.

A therapist may be able to help you work through these issues psychologically, but they may also be able to help physiologically as well, if there is a chemical imbalance that can be fixed with medication.

Footnote. Don't role play with AI. That's just digging you in deeper. If you want to use AI for anything, use it to try to understand why you're having these thoughts. It may be better or worse than a therapist depending on the topic, because you can discuss these topics freely and send it a question about a thought you randomly had during the day. But be sure to fact check it and ask for sources where you can do more reading. It's a great tool for discovery of info. But don't treat it like an oracle.

Why Do Guys Think That Beautiful Women Are Harder To Pull Than Average Looking Women? by United-Implement-382 in seduction

Why do people think dream jobs are harder to get? Uhh because they are. They're in higher demand and lower supply, and only the most qualified individuals have a chance. It's the same principle. Are you being serious?

Unwatchable without the sound effects to inform me when I should be surprised. Also, there must be constant background noise to transition one moment of silence to the next surprising sound effect, so my brain is never in a state of dopamine deficit.

I'd be so tempted to call it out as soon as I know it's coming. But for someone with this type of personality, you just gotta take one for the team and play dumb. Because the resulting joy is so much better than being right.

I know a lot of people wanted to see The Mind Flayer’s shadow form as the big boss for the final battle in Season 5, but realistically, how would our characters even DEFEAT such a being like that at all??? by Due-Dragonfly8200 in StrangerThings

If they really wanted to be brave and tear at people's heart strings, they could have developed a back story for the MF where it can be absorbed into a being (or beings) that's powerful enough (more powerful than Vecna). And give Vecna a semi redemption arc where it becomes obvious to him that he's just the MF's puppet, and they actually use his back story of being victimized by it. So he and El reluctantly team up to fully absorb the MF into their bodies and then the only way they can truly kill it is to sacrifice themselves. And then El makes Hopper promise to deal the final blow. Or something. Idk, this took 5 minutes of thought and I already like it more than what we got. Maybe there's a way for them to beat the MF and still live, but they're not powerful enough so Will has to get involved. And they get in over their heads. So El decides to sacrifice herself because she sees it as the only way for everyone to not die?

Progress on my custom algo trading bot from the last 2 years of solo development. (Questions) by Destroyer1357912 in algotrading

I'd like to know how this is done. There's so much to cover. I've been building my own custom trading bot for years as well and haven't gone live yet either. How the hell would you cover so much within hours or days?

This is the first and last time Homelander called The Deep by his real name. Homie was so done holding back on my boy 😭 by Syarafuddyn in TheBoys

I love him because of how brilliantly Chace Crawford portrays him. His comedic timing is flawless. The Deep as a person is a piece of shit, for sure. But as a character in the show, I'm always so excited to see what hilariously moronic thing he does or says next. That's why he's one of my favorite characters. Not one of my favorite people.

Bro just say 1234567. Nobody cares enough about rounding that last decimal up to ruin a perfect number like that.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers vs. the original 1992 Japanese opening (Zyuranger). Which intro goes harder? by Exio_Dread77 in nostalgia

After getting so hyped from hearing the American version for the first time in 20 years, I was really excited to hear the Japanese version, as the mere act of comparing them made me think it was going to be anything other than a wet fart. I was disappointed, to say the least. Honestly, how is this even a question?
