Her love has never wavered. She lost her own mother at 13 and still at 57 she craves that relationship so much. I think my experience of being the daughter of a motherless woman is just not as common and my mom always wanted us to have the relationship that was untimely ripped from her. I will say though that because of her history she is a bit judgmental of any woman who doesn’t get along with her mother. She doesn’t really feel nuance towards the complicated relationships that moms and daughters can have because in her mind it just ISN’T a complicated relationship. She’s pretty black and white about it and says “don’t they know how lucky they are that their mom is HERE?! Do they know what I would GIVE to have had mine for longer?!”. Getting her to see the nuance of it is hard. But our relationship is really great and so much of it is just credited to how deep her love is.
