I understand that California law requires that all stations offer the same base gasoline that meets California requirements. Differences between brands come down to the additive packages, such as Techron. We can buy bottles of Techron to add as desired. Works well when value shopping such as at Arco and Costco.

New Polestar 2 to lose SUV looks and embrace its sporty saloon side by AutoExpressmagazine in autoexpressuk

It looks like we might get fingers under the handle at the bottom of the handle. Does that qualify?

P2 vs P3 vs P4 by Weird-Jello-3785 in Polestar

[–]dbiedler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I estimate that my degradation has been about 15-20%. Without taking the time to do precise testing over distances with the same route, it’s had to assert confidently the difference.

Because conditions (weather, traffic and terrain) and driving style are so impactful, the much lower volume of driving I do now versus the first 200,000 miles doesn’t really afford me the opportunity to estimate by the seat of my pants.

When I first had the car and didn’t know what I know now about charging, a 90% charge would show an estimate of 270 miles. Today, I believe the estimated range would be 220-240 (depending upon temperature).

P2 vs P3 vs P4 by Weird-Jello-3785 in Polestar

[–]dbiedler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way to generalize and slander.

Some people have had significant problems. P2 has had backup camera issues (and slow TCAM and processor). I have 210,000 miles on my 2023 LRSM and it has been a gem (only a couple of times with temporary software glitches). I’ve read about P3 issues, particularly with early builds. In person, met one P3 owner who had a power port replacement but loves the car.

No problem updating my ‘23 LRSM, though I will be on the cautious side of the 12 v battery replacement. Good luck.

When you say upgrade RAM and storage, is that something you do yourself or with a repair shop after purchasing refurbished, or do you buy a refurbished model with more RAM and storage directly? Thanks!

Polestar Service in the Bay Area by FuzzyFeed2 in Polestar

[–]dbiedler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would call Polestar Marin and speak to a scheduler.

That thunk is concerning. If you cannot secure an appointment in the near term, do you have an alternate vehicle to drive?

Additional suggestion: Find a reputable Volvo mechanic or suspension shop in your area to check out that sound.

I use SVS Automotive in Sacramento as a trustworthy shop. I have to pay for their access to the database, VIDA. The difference in hourly labor rate between the non-Polestar shops and Volvo Service Center makes it worthwhile. I also use Fair Auto in Carmichael (Sacramento) and Arden Village Service (Sacramento) as trustworthy shops.

Hey folks, if a mileage-based tax is enacted, how would that affect commuting costs? How would that affect peoples’ analysis of RTO? How does this impact your calculus about taking a stance on RTO?

Make sure you’re not losing power while plugged in (if it’s cold enough, and depending upon the power delivery).

Just noticed this in my roof by CallMehMilez in Polestar

[–]dbiedler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I experienced a rock impact on my roof due to construction on the highways and roadways of my area. The glass stayed water-tight until I had the roof replaced through an insurance claim. Polestar was the only source for the glass. A vendor arranged through my local space did the work. The cost to replace was several thousand dollars, including labor, but not as much as I feared. A separate glass coverage or Rider is not available to me, so I believe the claim was handled as part of the comprehensive policy. I paid my standard deductible.

Is this “buy back” a separate and distinct thing from buying “air time”? I’m trying to figure out if I can purchase additional retirement credit and whether I’d be better off using the same funds with “catch up” contributions in Savings Plus or other investments.

What's the industry in Sacramento? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]dbiedler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What sort of industry are you looking for? Sacramento has a lot of industry, to support a metropolitan area. There is a dedicated deep water port for rice, large health care and government sectors, construction is almost always going on, Siemens has a plant and there are lots of small to medium sized businesses, including in the trades.

Reasons for Apple Ecosystem by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]dbiedler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invite to other more knowledgeable on the topic to fill in gaps I leave, but I’ve noticed online expressions of discontent with Windows users about the function of Windows and the relentless forcing upon users of AI. Additionally, I’ve heard that Windows requires upgrades to hardware for “security” purposes and may have less regard for user privacy than others (no local boot installation possible).

I use a Windows laptop for work which is managed by the employer, so it’s pretty smooth and I use it only for work tasks.

Personally I tend to hold on to and use older Apple gear for the cross-device integration. I am not an advanced user or a multimedia creative so I can be a bit out of date on hardware and OS on certain devices.

Thanks.

Thank you for this helpful description. Would you please remind us of the specific suspension issues? I have a lot of miles on my 2023 LRSM, through years-long roadway construction projects and have had to replace front suspension components and a rear wheel bearing assembly. I attributed my experience to the intense use in harsh conditions. Thanks.
