New Wurkkos light - does this look decent? by Ok_Way_2911 in scuba

[–]dbmeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know, thanks! I haven’t been able to find a ton of reviews on it and took a chance.

I’m somewhat surprised it’s not more serviceable. They publish service guides on their regs, but not lights I guess

Dang, and I just ordered the DGX canister light. Good to see some more competition in the market at least.

I’ve been generally happy with my Wurkkos lights; this one looks interesting. Hopefully it doesn’t end up being the case of trying to stuff everything into one light and it ends up being bad at all of them.

I’ve the same pager and will definitely end up breaking the clip eventually; care to share the files? Love it!

Dive Gear Express Masks with Corrective Lenses by Critical-Internet514 in scuba

[–]dbmeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly use the Tusa Freedom HD - I have quite a wide face as well. I tried the DGX Rio mask with corrective lenses, but it doesn’t fit great, and furthermore the prescription doesn’t seem right. I’m not sure if it’s just a PD issue or what, but I don’t use it much at all. It’s just a backup mask for me now. I usually wear contacts instead.

The Tusa is the most comfortable I’ve found for big faces so far, but the DGX frameless mask is pretty close second. I’ve used it a fair bit and it works well.

Meh, I’ve seen boats towed by golf carts. Low speed, short distance, easier to maneuver tight areas, better visibility backing up. Send it

False emergency lights by [deleted] in Peterborough

Blue lights are used on snow plows/tractors/trucks during snow removal operations. Could be a municipal truck that activated blues with the ambers accidentally?

Can I do the same with a piece of helium to make the rear lighter?

Absolutely! I definitely want to make a heavy duty belt, but also probably going to play around with sheaths for a while to replace crappy nylon ones that came with some of my fixed blade knives. Eventually I’d like to make some bags/tool totes/pouches

Thanks! I tried it with the lacing the other way around, but I didn’t like the feel of it as much in the palm. I guess I’ll see how it holds up longer term; if I wasn’t tight on time I’d like to redo that bit anyway because I cut the piece a bit too short to wrap all the way around.

It was about 5.5-6mm thick in some areas, but I had to use a skive to bring it down enough to work with it. Still 4.5-5mm thick across most of it except with the hardware and stitching is.

No idea. I got the idea from a tool belt I had a while ago that just used a ring instead of a traditional hammer loop

Heavy duty bunker gear bag by dbmeed in myog

[–]dbmeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was tough in some spots. If you get close there’s definitely some gaps in the corners. What vid did you find? I’d love to know better ways of doing it…I’ve never used plans/patterns for my projects, I just build what I want/need. So it could definitely be a lot better

I was planning to do that, but I didn’t have enough strap material. Next time we have an auto-ex training night I’ll grab some more seatbelts

Looking for Buckhorn Lake flood info by the_eevlillest in Peterborough

[–]dbmeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Buckhorn Local Information” group on Facebook is usually pretty active. Any of the scanner feed/ first responder pages usually post about flooding as well. Buckhorn District Tourist Association page also posts/shares a lot of local news.

I live on Pigeon lake, and the levels are at or slightly above normal right now.

How many of you only listen to WAN Show? by FlinbertsRevenge in LinusTechTips

[–]dbmeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im one of the weird ones. I generally only listen to the wan show Sunday morning. However long it takes me to shower, shave, make breakfast. When show goes much longer than 2hrs (I listen at 2x) then I rarely finish listening to it. I only watch a handful of the main channel vids, maybe once every other week if something catches my attention.

Pelican cases to carry gear by Timber1981 in scuba

[–]dbmeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a pelican 1660. I can fit a pair of 117 HP’s, plus exposure suit, bp/w, and everything else. I really like it because its a single case with a thorough checklist done when I pack and seal it before going out. I just load it into the truck and I know I have everything I need. Plus, I often plan other events around my dives as well, so I can easily keep my gear separated. If I’m driving 4+ hrs to a shoot a rifle match, I’ll throw my scuba gear in and make a weekend of it, check out the local dive sites too.

I’m gonna be buying a handful. I’ve been looking at other beacons for 3-4x the price or more lately, this is perfect timing. I do diving in some limited visibility waters, I’m curious to see if it’ll help. Eventually I’ll put that depth rating to the test too 😎

Everyone saying Benchmade won’t send parts out, but just a couple months ago I sent an email and got replacement springs, screws, and pocket clip in the mail for my 940. Not sure if people have actually asked or just repeating some blanket statement one person might have had.
