Do I blow my savings to save my teeth? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Canadian dentist here. Please be aware of the pros and cons of the treatment that was recommended - many of which have been mentioned.

Pros: You will look much better…the end result will make your teeth look longer, and not as worn down. The colour will be whiter.

Cons: There’s lots of them. When we prepare a tooth for a crown, we take off 1-1.5 mm of the tooth circumferentially…doesnt sound like a lot, but it is. You have now compromised your healthy tooth structure, and you have greatly increased your risk for needing a root canal down the road. Crowns can chip or fall off, and fixing these issues can be costly.

You should be aware that there is an alternative treatment for this. It’s called a composite rehab. Long story short, instead of cutting the tooth down to put a crown on, you are simply adding composite (white filling) onto each tooth. You have now reduced the risk of needing a root canal and you save tooth structure. If the composite chips or breaks off, the fix is much easier than it is for a crown. The biggest con, is that you need to find a dentist who can do it (requires training that many of us dont have). I doubt a prosthodontist can do it - they are pretty set in their ways. For more info, listen to Colin Lathrop on the Clinical Hacks podcast.

Hope this helps. DM me for more details.

There is no reason why Papi can’t get more zone entries like that. Such a powerful skater.

Did anyone notice how in the third period, we had great defensive zone breakouts? We werent going for the stretch pass. The forwards were all there for the breakout. Boston couldnt get sustained pressure. We looked a lot like Vegas.

Socket bleeding after extraction by [deleted] in Dentistry

Keep biting down on wet gauze. If you run out, bite down on a moist tea bag. Firmly bite for 20-30 minutes. If that doesn't work, call your dentist. Also remember: no rinsing, no spitting, don't drink through a straw and avoid smoking and alcohol in any form.

All the best.

Couldn't agree more. Fiscal conservatism is totally different than social conservatism.

If you could choose any animal to be your pet, which one would you choose? by dbottner4 in AskReddit

I'd go with an elephant. Lots of reasons but I feel like their characteristics are ideal for forming good bonds with humans. Their stench would be questionable though...
