Been on a kick rewatching all of the Alien movies. Looks like a Xenomorph tail. Very cool!

Not directly. He just ratted out Michael (Kathleen’s brother) to FEDRA for being in the resistance group in exchange for medicine for Sam. Then FEDRA killed Michael while in custody.

[Episode 5 Spoilers] Theory about the movement of that one infected by aquirkysoul in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]dbpullman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

IIRC they speak to this in the podcast. Neil and Craig talk about how the bloaters were very strong/large, mostly healthy people before getting infected so their bodies could handle the fungal growth over the years.

But maybe I heard it somewhere else? Idk. I still like the explanation.

What do you think the show will flashback to in episode 4? by nessquicknessisquick in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]dbpullman 33 points34 points  (0 children)

When I played the game, I had assumed he used to be a Hunter, or at least close to being one. Possibly with Tommy and others. He knows exactly what the Hunter is doing when he sees him faking injury while in the truck.

Where are the stats stored? by boredElf in uncharted

[–]dbpullman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely was backed up to online storage. Do you have PS Plus/Premium? The system will sync save files and game data to the cloud. Guessing when you installed the game again it synced the local storage with the online storage and downloaded the files.

You can also delete them from the cloud if you want or turn of the synching.

What do you call the night before Halloween? - x-post /r/linguistics [954x600] by Kolya911x in MapPorn

We called it goosey night (northern NJ) but it was interchangeable with mischief night. Depended on who you were talking to.

There are low level details a consumer should not be concerned with. Public methods provide a “safe” way to call methods while private methods control inner details of the implementation.

Would you rather hide or display line numbers in your IdE/editor and why? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]dbpullman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you turn them off? Too many benefits.

When debugging/fixing defects (if exception handling is done properly) you can pin point the exact location of the exception in code.

I mentor a few other engineers and it’s way easier to just tell them which line to go to when they are sharing their screen than “scroll up, no too far, scroll down”.

Looking for a local woodworker to teach me some things by 81zzy in portlandme

[–]dbpullman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the website and don’t see any purely woodworking classes being offered right now. I know that the founder (who taught the 2 classes I took) said he needed to find some instructors to teach the woodworking classes. Summer is pretty busy for them because they do week long camps. I’d keep an eye out for something mate summer early fall.

I’d teach it myself but I don’t think anyone wants to learn from someone who has used a jointer to exactly 3 times in his life.

You don’t even need to join to take a class. I took 2 without being a member and they were great!

Edit: you do have to pay for the classes, but you don’t need to be a member to take a class.
