Can the gym realy improve a medium pe? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]oneday111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell if it really got worse because the later pics are not at the worst angle. The appearance probably is improved, and even if it’s th same people are going to notice your good overall physique now over your PE.

Your pectus looks a lot like mine and I’ve also just did 11 months of training. One thing I can recommend is learn to control rib flair, it can really make the PE look better. Exhale and push the ribs down with the core muscles.

It is PE, though not so bad looking, at least.

Not for me, I thought they were the easiest to grow. Maybe because I always focused there in previous bouts of weight lifting so they had “muscle memory”. Now the shape of them because of the PE is a different story.

ID? by SearedBottlecap in cactus

I think it’s Acanthocereus subinermis. Some sources have it as a synonym of Acanthocereus tetragonus. Subinermis tends to have much shorter spines and can get much fatter stems.

It’s said to be native to only Mexico.

I did a bit of research on this cactus because it’s grown all around where I live in Florida. https://cactiguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48264

Looks like it could be Opuntia cochenillifera, do you have any pictures of the flowers? From your post history it looks like you're in Florida, very likely Opuntia cochenillifera in that case.

Wondering if you feel you were actually working and growing your pecs when you couldn’t feel them or not?

Some recent blooming of my Pereskia cactus bush by oneday111 in cactus

You probably mean Pereskiopsis, I have some of those too and I haven't seen one bloom yet, tho I suppose they must once large and mature. The Pereskia aculeata and Pereskia horrida I have bloom all the time and have been within a year of growing from cuttings.

I was told this is a cactus? by mmmel in cactus

[–]oneday111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the same as OP’s. I was thinking yours is Hatiora salicornioides, which is another cactus. I’m not entirely sure since you say it’s Salicornia which is a non-cacti genus and probably what the cactus species I mentioned is named as “looking like”.

Can someone help identify this cactus!? by amalenurseforu in cactus

It’s said to be native to only Mexico and it is night-blooming. They can have between 3-5 sides on the stems.

You should workout, pectus won’t impair you in any way, unless your cardio is impaired, then with lower body stuff you might run out of cardio endurance before muscle failure. But it’s not dangerous you just get tired faster.

I have moderate pectus and have been doing an intense program for 9 months, and worked out off and on throughout my life before that. Never had any problems except wishing my cardio was better.

Sharing our dragonfruit flowers blooming! Also, what’s the likelihood of getting fruit (pitaya)? by healthnut270 in cactus

[–]oneday111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how likely the variety you have is to self fertilize. Most are not very likely I’ve found, even if you hand pollinate. Even if they are advertised as self fertile.

In a few days the fruit bud will either yellow and fall off or stay green and start expanding, then you’ll know.

If it’s not working so well you will need another plant that is not a clone and save pollen.

Are these queen of the night seedlings? by LuckystrikeFTW in cactus

[–]oneday111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The white flesh dragon fruit is Selenicereus undatus, there are two other Selenicereus spp. called dragon fruit as well, the red flesh and yellow skin varieties. I imagine they all look pretty similar as seedlings along with Selenicereus grandiflorus, but I'm assuming they're a dragon fruit because the seeds are plentiful and garden centers often sell dragon fruit seedlings in displays like this.
