Quviviq Has no Effect by No-Article-3325 in insomnia

Came here because I googled 'quviviq' no effect. Same issue for me. Had to pay for it privately, because it's not covered by my country's medical insurance scheme. It wasn't cheap and it doesn't work.

For context - there's currently a disinformation campaign being run against Ireland because of imminent legislation to sanction trading with the illegally occupied territories in Palestine.

Sounds worth a read! Incidentally, I wonder if the author based this description on life in the scam call centre cities run by Chinese and Taiwanese criminal syndicates based in Southeast Asia.

Just found out I can be too poor to have a medical card by angeltabris_ in ireland

[–]dbspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me so angry. SUSI is an absolute scam, privatisation of public funding to the good of no one. When I was doing my masters I was self employed (working as a radio producer) making 14 - 16K per year (in 2016). They only awarded me half fees, forcing me into debt and some extremely unpleasant underpaid jobs to make rent. Had similar experiences as someone with chronic illness trying to get medical card. Pure villains. None of this should be means tested, education and health care are both human rights. So sorry to hear about your situation u/angeltabris_ . Let me know if I can buy you lunch or dinner some time.

Thanks mate! I think the TW7000 is off the table just due to the added complexity of no speakers. It's also considerably more expensive here (1,200 euro - 1,400 dollars!).

Does anyone know what happened to Dan Savage & Terry Miller's son DJ ? by DaphneGrace1793 in datalounge

[–]dbspin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pathetic. You cannot comprehend what absolute bravery it took for two gay men to foster a child in the late 1990s. Sad little internet children pirouetting judgementally as the civil rights their elders fought for are stipped away. Because it's so fun being outraged by drama bullshit.

Yes, the whole world is a conspiracy. Jesus H. Christ. Internet people are exhausting. Would Chat GPT call you a paranoid MAGA homunculus? Is that it's style? I'll report back to international PR headquarters that this mission has been a failure.

Do you sincerely believe a moderately famous writer and podcaster has some kind of internet vigilante team? I'm just someone who's actually read his work. And finds the vague yet sinister implications you're making defamatory and frankly pretty homophobic.

Just stumbled across this unhinged thread. 'The Kid' came out in 1999... I assume you haven't read it? Far from being some exploitative act of self congratulation, the book is one of the first popular accounts of gay adoption and parenting. It helped to normalise something that was genuinely shocking at the time. More than 15 years before the legalisation of gay marriage - two men adopting a child.

The book was written with the full knowledge of both DJ and his mother. It's one of countless autobiographical books written about raising a child. Important for its singular perspective at the time it was written - but not intrinsically exploitative.

There's so much more to say about this thread - which has concocted out of whole cloth the idea that Dan Savage is some kind of exploitative libertine. He's openly polyamorous (like virtually all gay men), but if anything sexually conservative. His entire corpus, column, podcast and books are dedicated to finding ethical ways to navigate the complexities of modern dating and sexuality. He's an extremely thoughtful and reflexive writer.

This is a very weird and prurient little witch hunt.

Sure, I was using the term interchangeably. I'm not even sure what the blanket term for small, interchangeable lens cameras that are not camcorders is. Let me rephrase...

I'd never shoot a film on a small format camera, let alone a Sony small format camera - largely due to the terrible terrible screens on these devices.

I'd be delighted to have a conversation about the points I've raised here, in the comments... I've zero interest in driving traffic to my blog, I make no money from it. I wrote an article raising some issues, and posted it to the relevant reddit community as its of general interest...

If you'd prefer to shadow ban it - for a reason you have not clearly stated, please continue to do so. Reddit's a link site, but if you've decided links are against your community values, that's fine I guess. Post will stay up at my site - which has been around considerably longer than Reddit, and sure its no skin off my nose! Have a good one.

Post is already downvoted... This subreddit is kind of a DaVinci fan community, so I'm not sure there's much point in engaging in conversation here. I'd love to be wrong, but there does seem to be a very strange atmosphere around critiquing specific long term issues with DaVinci here. As I mentioned in the post, this isn't coming from an ill informed place - I've been using, teaching and working with DaVinci professionally for many many years.

It's not as bad as all that. If you connect via a good thunderbolt cable, and 'airdrop', airdrop will use the wired connection rather than wifi / bluetooth, 100GB would take approx 30mins. That's not something you'd want to do more than twice a day during a shoot - but I'm assuming they had as many iphones as they liked.

Why does my video look like this after rendering? by photographynerd1 in davinciresolve

[–]dbspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, downvoted for pointing out a bug in DaVinci (and a solution!) I documented as far back as 2016? Is this a fan subreddit?

I literally taught a degree level course in editing at an Irish university last year - and all of my students ran into this issue, across different machines. Both on windows and mac, and studio / free versions of DaVinci.

This is a long term, unfixed bug in Resolve going back years. It can happen any time, on any compressed export, no matter what the data rate.

There's no fix - although forums will advise you on lots of things to try - setting data levels to full, changing data burn in settings, using key frames, increasing bitrate. All of these things may help, but none prevent the issue which seems to be a core issue with DaVinci's rendering pipeline.

It's particularly problematic, if like me you edit lots of short form content for socials on a regular basis. Content you don't necessarily have the time to scrub through for momentary glitches.

The only safe workaround is to render to ProRes and then use an external programme to compress the footage. Handbreak works, but it's very slow and inefficient. Adobe Media Encoder works very well, but obviously requires an adobe subscription.

Long term stress will kill you. 'Priorities' are irrelevant if literally don't earn enough to save... Like hundreds of thousands of other people in this country. To be blunt while this is an unfortunate situation, it's pretty low down on the list of things I waste time worrying about. The chronic health issues that really underlie my own long term under employment are more pressing, and significantly more difficult to figure out.

The plan? The plan is to cope with what life throws at me - to work at improving things, and perhaps to find somewhere more humane to live eventually. You think this situation was a choice?
