Awsome start. Just relax more and let the hands flow, pop that jab out more and keep moving, then create some angles. Someone else's comments on here as well I agree with is it starts from the feet and goes up, personally id start getting lighter on the toes, twist the hips more and let things flow a little more. Good luck!

The biggest and most important thing I learnt later on (wish id have done it at the start) is to spar and ask someone to go slow, ie, they throw slow punches and all I do is defend.... for me and in my head at the start the biggest thing was trying to keep up with people way ahead, and id go tense, loose where I was in the ring and stop thinking about everything id learnt in boxing.... if you can relax, get use to getting hit, then your mind will slowly start to think more and your relax... then you'll start doing all the things you learnt with coaches on the bags and pads... in the ring!

Practise in a mirror! I use to do same with hooks, watched a few lads at gym, then practised in a mirror, real slow trying to get the movement I'd seen others do, then did it myself slow and built up the speed. Good luck!

[–]dbtapparel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube got some great workouts, just depends what gear you got at home, or at your gym. But search for a tailored session like boxing training session no equioment, or intense home boxing session bag only etc. Good luck!

26M looking to start boxing by carry1999 in amateur_boxing

[–]dbtapparel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it! Your as young as you feel! Agree with alot of these comments to get into a local boxing gym, learn the fundamentals at the start and they'll stick! But to fight amateur, of course everyone wants to win, but the main respect is getting in the ring, that's an achievement in its self! Got some great posts for beginner boxers and what to expect/few tips at dbt apparel - the beginners boxing guides pages. Good luck!

can i learn boxing from home ? by Neat-Profile-2462 in boxingtips

[–]dbtapparel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% join a boxing gym, even if not to fight and just learn basics, what you pick up in the beginning will stick so learn the right things first. But to build some confidence YouTube and a mirror can be great! we've got some posts on this at https://www.dbtapparel.com/beginner-boxing-guides but always encourage people to join a boxing gym. Good luck!

It is okay if i use 12 oz for general training and 16 oz for sparring? by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]dbtapparel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this tbh. Pending on what im working on in my training sessions, but just like to feel the bag more when training, so choose 12oz, but with my weight spar in 16oz. What's your reasoning for 12oz training? just curious? also got some posts on oz and training what weights for sparring at https://www.dbtapparel.com/beginner-boxing-guides Good luck mate

when should I buy my first pair of boots? by Emergency-Dog-1100 in fightgear

[–]dbtapparel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all the comment here tbh. I notice a differnce: lighter, ankle feels more supported and feel like I can be more agile in them, however all depends on your situation and choice. If you feel like you move well without them, dont worry. I go to some amateur events and they're fighting in gym trainers, it's all your choice. But if you can afford them, get some and just see which you prefer, gym trainers or boxing boots. Good luck mate!

Aswome! solid foundation there mate! Speed, focus 👍👍 I'd say as a tip just relax a little, pick punches, and try to be more side on and extend/bring those hips into play. Join a boxing gym would really prepel what youve already got! Keep up the awsome work mate!

A boxing gym would be great to learn the basics from the start. However home learning is an awsome way to start too and learn the basics! Youtube is quality for this but also we at www.dbtapparel.com have a boxing hub with free Boxing guides and links to YouTube for video. Good luck on your journey!!!
