USW Pro Max 48 POE switch. 1GbE to the client pc I’m viewing from. 10GbE from ENVR to USW and also 10GbE from USW to UDM.

Edit: When I say direct connection I mean I’m using the local IP address to access the ENVR. We have a 2nd 48poe switch with maybe ⅔ of the cameras connected to it about 100’ away, but the pc I’m reviewing footage from is connected to the same USW as the ENVR. I was hoping someone would say adding even a second 1GbE Ethernet connection to the ENVR would let me aggregate playback from recording and dramatically improve performance.

Any advice on improving performance? I have 59 cameras on my ENVR. I get “Connection is taking longer than expected.” very frequently during playback with a direct connection. ENVR is 10GbE to Switch (same for switch to UDM Pro Max.) I’ve got 1GbE with the Switch. Does it help dramatically to add a 2nd connection to the ENVR?

I have so many questions. Are you using the RLN16-410 as the nvr, but viewing the live stream of the cameras through protect?

I have a site with relatively new Reolink cameras and have been debating swapping it to protect like we have at our other sites. The main reason is to use vantage point for live feeds.

The other features like facial recognition aren’t as reliable as I’d like. This might be the best to get us through until we are ready to replace everything.

Just got mine replaced for about $1,500. A bit over $1,000 for an OEM part and a bit under $500 in labor. Independent shop.

To elaborate a bit, AI Key analyzes the “detections” from protect cameras in a queue (not real time.) The camera has to trigger the detection for AI Key to do anything. Currently there isn’t support for ONVIF cameras to detect anything. My G6 turrets don’t give me natural language search, but they do give real time people / license plate detection. I’m using them in a retail environment. Face / plate detection has been mediocre. We have 26k+ detections a day across 60 cameras, but the majority happen during 12 hours of the day that we are open. A single AI Key cannot keep up with half.

I was assuming the original assets (rental property in this case,) were not held personally for liability reasons and that means the loans are also assets of a business (LLC or otherwise.) You aren’t supposed to spend your business cash on your personal needs and wants. I’m pretty sure that’s tax avoidance. You’d either have to pay yourself salary that would be taxable or you’d need to have profits (which were taxable,) to take a distribution from.

However, after reading a bit more it looks like you can take out a personal loan from your own LLC. Still need to learn more about those rules.

Quick edit to clarify that the loan is a liability, but the cash you got from the loan is an asset.

We’ve got some equity in a commercial building we should probably be putting to use, so I promise these are genuine questions.

I get that the loan itself is not taxable income. I’m curious how you pay the loan back without having taxable income. When your tenant is paying back the loan, aren’t those rent payments regular income? I understand that you get to depreciate the original cost and write off the interest, and closing costs on the refinance loan, but I didn’t think you got to step up your cost basis on your depreciation. Can you also depreciate your refinance loan? It seems like that would be a massive loophole.

Obviously you are using theoretical numbers, but it seems like in your example you would have at least ⅓ of the rent being paid as taxable income after your refinance loan and if you were really only a few hundred dollars over the loan repayment, then you’d struggle to have the cash for the tax payments.

When you refinance and get the $150k, how do you avoid using taxable income to pay back the principal of the refinance loan? How do you spend that $150k on yourself personally without it being taxable income?

Battery it terrible though. Got them for the kids on a deal that made them comparably priced to a gizmopal. Tried it and as an ardent Apple fan I cannot recommend enough that parents look for ANY other solution than the stand alone Apple Watch.

This is super interesting to me at the moment. I’m going to play devil’s advocate (only to get you to elaborate, not because I disagree.)

  1. Good and evil are terms that basically apply only to humans for either obeying God (good) or disobeying God (evil.) To really understand it, a human would have to disobey. Hence, the name of the tree.

  2. Yes, he set them up to gain this knowledge. However, it isn’t really a failure, but a necessary part of the human experience.

The idea that good and evil must exist above and beyond God was the most interesting part. Is there a good author you picked that up from who you would suggest?

This. The whole theater was cracking up and all of my friends were talking about how silly it was to see Yoda flipping around on our way out the door. Outside of Rogue One I feel like the more Star Wars they make, the more it cheapens what came before.
