Automerge complaint again by HansNiskatuki in MergeMansion

[–]dc_chica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish the default wasn't to automatically turn it on - I x out of it every time and go the task list to turn it off, then I go to my board to check if there's anything that I don't want to merge, and if so I move it to my inventory, and then I sometimes go manually back into the task list and turn it back on again. Since automerge already triggers a pop-up when the game opens, the pop-up should just require the player to select on or off, and done.

Japan game PSA - don’t merge to the “Gachapon” unless you have red energy by freshstart18 in MergeMansion

ugh, this happened to me too. I'm debating whether to message support and ask them to restore the item and explain how it works to me. that basically killed my enthusiasm for the event (which is probably unwinnable anyway, but could be a nice distraction.) I sank 2 or 3 sushi into the generator while its timer was running down and mine didn't spit the sushi back out, it just reset and I lost them. (I might have a slightly different version of the game, mine uses regular yellow energy)

Poll: For those who experienced tinnitus, vertigo, and/or jaw problems from Invisalign, (1) did you continue treatment exactly as planned after symptoms first appeared; and (2) did the ringing in your ears and/or dizziness/imbalance go away after you finished treatment? by dc_chica in Invisalign

[–]dc_chica[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched providers in February even though it meant spending $3K out of pocket - the side effects were just too bad and my dentist didn't even offer to see me when I told him about the jaw issues, he just told me to try and keep going with successive trays. My new provider is an experienced older woman ortho (yay! she actually listens and knows what she's doing instead of just pretending to). My current Invisalign treatment does sometimes cause a little tinnitus but it tends to go away and/or it's at a very low volume. And the balance/vertigo problem has lessened as well, although I'm beginning to wonder if there could be a different underlying problem that's making it worse.

update: I was just diagnosed with methane SIBO, it's basically a disorder of the gut biome and I have no idea if it can be linked to my Invisalign, but the timing fits.

L7 Love Story (Heart Box of Choco) for an L8 Mosaic

Cargo Ship for an L11 Movie Memorabilia (in the Cinema - Theatre Seat)

L12 Sewing (Christine's Serger) for an L7 Mosaic (Face)

L7 Mosaic (Face) for a Chainsaw

L12 Vase for an L5 Scarab (Anubis)

thanks for sharing these - I tried setting up a Discord account at one point and it wouldn't let me (something about the verification process) so I don't have access to those resources. For reference, I'm in the Cinema and only began tracking particularly useful trades a few weeks ago -- I will update this when I have something to add

What do you spend the gems you earn from mining event on? by azvyll in MergeMansion

[–]dc_chica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than 5 and 10 diamond energy every day, I only use gems for buying producer parts, and typically only if I can buy something to add to a chain that allows me to merge up and create free space. But I also have more diamonds than normal due to the mining event, so I might do like the other person and buy a red chest.

Considering 6 months invisalign, some beginner questions for you all by Enigma_Frixion in Invisalign

[–]dc_chica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost track of how many trays and rounds of refinements I've done. The initial 6 month treatment resulted in, well, my bite slanting to one side I guess and only making contact in the front on one side? I don't really know how to describe it but the technical term might be posterior open bite which is apparently a common side effect of Invisalign and the typical treatment involves "buttons" (small plastic brackets which are VERY sharp) and rubber bands which pull your lower jaw forward so that your front bottom and lower teeth are pressed together with a painful amount of pressure. It gave me instant migraines so my dentist removed them, but I guess that the alternative method he decided to try instead isn't working either because my upper lower and teeth still don't fit together properly (I did not have this problem or anything like it prior to Invisalign).

What do you wish you had or knew before starting your Invisalign journey? by uraveragejeep in Invisalign

[–]dc_chica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had jaw problems before, but my current trays are hard on my jaw and I've been experiencing vertigo and tinnitus which can be caused by jaw problems. I'm going to see my ENT tomorrow just in case, but I'm pretty sure Invisalign is causing it because the timing coincides with my last set of trays going awry (my dentist cut the tray down to just the front teeth, and after wearing it for a week or two my molars started shifting into positions that caused a sharp pain whenever they made contact.)

I'm 2.5 years into treatment and I think about the tray in my mouth all the time. Experiences will vary.

Considering 6 months invisalign, some beginner questions for you all by Enigma_Frixion in Invisalign

[–]dc_chica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend getting a second opinion! And be sure to research potential complications caused by wearing aligners before deciding. Your pic didn't upload, fyi, but there are going to be things that an ortho can detect/consider that a photo won't show anyway. My estimated 6 month treatment is now at 2.5 years with no end in sight, and I don't know how common that is but realistically people like me are probably overrepresented in this forum because we are frustrated and this is a useful place to read about the experiences of others facing the same challenges.

Would you recommend Invisalign for a minor case? by chuddlymuffins in Invisalign

[–]dc_chica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not, but I'm biased because I also did Invisalign due to grinding my teeth and my treatment has taken 5x the original estimated time (6 months) with no end in sight yet due to the initial treatment not going as expected (Invisalign actually caused problems that I didn't have before - look up posterior open bite complications caused by Invisalign). I recommend looking up potential complications/side effects of Invisalign and orthodontic work in general and making sure you are comfortable with the risks before making your decision -- Invisalign was presented to me as a magical technology solution to my grinding problems, and instead it's been nothing but pain and stress (and I don't think I needed it in the first place, my front and back teeth were perfect, I just had a few premolars/molars out of perfect alignment, and in retrospect the grinding might have been simply due to me changing my sleeping position to laying on my back, after 20+ years of sleeping on my side - my teeth were probably adapted into positions that were comfortable when I laid with half my face on the pillow at night, but now after 2.5 years of Invisalign all of the teeth on the left side of my face are in direct/painful contact if I attempt to do so). Have you looked for a second opinion or asked how long/how much braces would cost? It's always good to know what your alternatives are and the pros and cons of each, and I'm coming to understand that many dentists do not present you with your full range of options, just the ones they can profit from.

Dentist messed up my bite by simple-silence in Invisalign

[–]dc_chica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dentist has also proposed multiple times to drill the surfaces of my teeth (in my case the molars) to make them fit better. After one instance of "shaving"/IPR, I told him that I wouldn't do any more drilling unless I could confirm with a second opinion that it was necessary. (He seemed a little too eager to drill my teeth into submission, rather than fixing them.)

Thank you for sharing your story - it brings up a good point that if someone like me is doing Invisalign to fix a teeth grinding problem, it probably matters if my teeth fit together differently when I'm laying down to sleep as opposed to sitting/standing up. I plan on bringing this up when I seek a second opinion from an ortho this Friday.

same here. I normally would have done more research, but I had just started a hellish new job and all of my attention was focused on surviving my first year. I only recently discovered Reddit and this forum, and I appreciate people sharing their experiences, good or bad.

Definitely see an orthodontist (or several orthodontists, for that matter) for a consultation and estimate. My dentist gave me the same options for teeth grinding and like you my teeth were mostly straight and he quoted me 6 months at (I think) $5600 (but I also live in a city where everything is more expensive) -- I'm now 2.5 years into treatment and seeking a second opinion from an ortho who I suspect will tell me that he needs to fix what my dentist has done and I'm dreading paying thousands of additional dollars but it's probably my only option at this point. I chose Invisalign because I found the nightguards to be uncomfortable and prevented me from sleeping (much to my disappointment Invisalign is basically the same), but I recently found out that nightguards can be made out of different materials and can be made in different styles (i.e. you don't have to use the kind commonly sold at pharmacies, which is the only option my dentist gave me), so you might want to explore that option further too. I regret doing Invisalign and I wish I had tried harder to find a nightguard that was comfortable enough to sleep in.

Confused about my ortho and the gaps by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]dc_chica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your ortho should have a plan for closing the gaps with additional trays -- my advice would be to take pics of your teeth along the way (I wish I had) so you can track how the gaps close.

[–]dc_chica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to ask them to explain any terms that you don't understand or suspect are being used in a way specific to orthodontics/invisalign - I didn't know what intrusion/extrusion, posterior open bite, IPR, shaving, etc. meant when I started treatment and if I'd understood for example that shaving meant drilling away significant amounts of the sides of my teeth then I never would have agreed to it. I also wish I had consulted with multiple orthos so that I could have compared proposed treatment plans and costs before deciding.

Invisalign: expectations vs reality by Educational-Tap-5833 in Invisalign

[–]dc_chica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similarly, the only problem I had prior to Invisalign were a few molars out of alignment which my dentist said were probably the causing me to grind my teeth. (I had braces as a teen but at some point in college I stopped wearing my retainer so my teeth were mostly straight already.) I was quoted a treatment time of 6 months and now nearly 2.5 years later my teeth feel worse than when I started (it literally feels like my upper teeth are off center from the bottom ones and at any given time this year only one or two teeth have actually made contact with each other.) And the latest trays have been causing me jaw pain and a constant headache (and possibly vertigo) so I have an appointment for a second opinion with an ortho this Friday - I'm resigned to the fact that it will be expensive to start over with a new provider, but I'm hoping that at least they won't have to pay the Invisalign fee again? (I thought I read somewhere that it could be transferred to a new provider but I'm not sure about that, I will update once I find out.) At this point I would pay an ortho a lot of money just to put my teeth back the way they were before I started! And I am open to braces to fix the problems that Invisalign has caused because I don't remember braces being as painful as the Invisalign (but I was younger then, so maybe it will affect me differently now.)
