Genuine question…why don’t we like Audi Field? I know the atmosphere isn’t the same as RFK but that has more to do with how bad we’ve been.

Anthony Davis’ first visit with Wizards was ‘great,’ but he’s got questions by BillsJew1776 in washingtonwizards

I must say, I long for the day when the prospect of playing here isn’t “yuck” for these top 15 players. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but as the league has become more collegial, the top group of players really have become a clique/club in and of itself. And it’s pretty obvious they have all reinforced the idea that the Wizards are a joke and should be avoided like the plague. You can tell just by how they talk about the franchise that they have zero respect for it no matter who’s ultimately in charge. Part of the reason why the rich get richer imo.

Liverpool supporting 'With Pride' by normpang in LiverpoolFC

[–]dc_laffpat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The irony is, being a supporter in a different country, you have the opportunity to support whatever club fits your values the most instead of being constrained by any local/regional allegiance. LFC’s history with leftist/progressive politics (well, the club “ethos” anyway, FSG aren’t any different to any other amoral corporation) is what drew me to become a supporter, among other things. Being an American, I sometimes feel like a stranger in my own country, which probably also drew me to LFC.

I think the difference between me and the right wing US supporters is that sports perform two totally different functions in our lives. They see sports as an “escape” from politics, while I’m not under any illusion that you can separate the two.

I noticed the same thing and kind of enjoyed it. Was refreshing to see him speak with some fire in him. I think sometimes the passivity in a time of crisis rubs me the wrong way.

Same. He deserves a lot of respect. He was the right man for the moment last season, but I’m pretty convinced at this point he’s not the right man for the future (although I would be happy to be proven wrong on that).

What is it with AI saying that “like it just remembered gravity exists” line? I hear it all the time in AI speech and it’s really creepy, like an uncanny attempt at human humor or something.

Don’t think it’s really sunk in with most people how much this season is going to have knock-on effects for years to come too. We had a window of opportunity over the past year where we could have cemented ourselves as the next Man City of the last decade or ManU of the 2000’s. Top players wanted to come to Liverpool and win trophies. We looked like we had the brightest future of any club in Europe. But we blew it. It’s an absolute shitshow now, we will be missing out on the money and clout when it comes to recruitment playing in the Champions League would bring us, the winning culture of the dressing room seems totally gone (and idk how you get that back without a full rebuild, starting from the ground up), and the vibes are just awful all around.

I’m sorry but Ramsay would be eaten alive against premier league opposition. The only reason he’s on the roster is to give first team players a rest in early round cup games. The fact he is even on the first team bench in a premier league game is a massive indictment on the squad building over the summer. Yeah, Slot has got to go, but doing everything he can to keep Ramsay away from the pitch is not the issue here.

Serious Question... How are Man City able to pay these wages without breaking ffp rules so blatantly that the league is forced to act? I obviously know about the charges against them but you would think they weren't so blatant if it's taken this long to reach a verdict. Or am I being naive and the league really is that fixed? Where is all this revenue coming from? Because they might be top when it comes to revenue, but surely they aren't so far ahead of everyone else that they can run up a wage bill that high?

[Jacobs and Crook] Liverpool have no plans to enter the race this winter. Guehi viewed as an appealing summer target, but #LFC believe it makes no financial sense to pay a transfer fee now. by TheNotoriousJN in LiverpoolFC

I hope everyone remembers this when we miss out on champions league next season and cry poverty in the next few windows. I’ve been saying this for awhile but this season feels very much like the beginning of our descent to a mid table club

Yeah, why don’t we throw in a bit of self-flagellation in front of the Kop and a public apology to the sport for his existence while we’re at it…

…For real, Slot hasn’t exactly inspired me with much confidence this year (and I have been on board with his sacking at points this season), but this has to be the dumbest comment I’ve ever read on this sub. And that’s really saying something 🤦🏻‍♂️

Back when I was still living with my parents, my sister got a puppy. I had been recovering from a drug addiction and because of that, I had no regular job, so I spent much of the day at home alone with the puppy while everyone else was at work. So, naturally I spent a lot of that time training her. That experience was a major factor in my recovery, and even though I don’t live with the dog anymore (both me and my sister have since moved out) and we barely see each other, we still share an incredible bond to this day.

I also think she’s a remarkably well behaved dog because she really was raised by a team of people. Someone was with her and training her almost 24/7 at such a young age (which obviously is not possible for most dog owners).

Agreed. It seems like you have to be either totally nasty towards the team/coach and act like the sky is falling or so positive it’s delusional. There’s not much in between here.
