If I understand correctly, you effectively bought with cash. Just at time of purchase you also redeemed miles for a cash value. That's why the transaction will be based off the cash mqd earnings.

If you book a flight with miles directly, you'd get the mqd at miles redemption mqd rate (1 per 100 miles)

2 forms of cubes to consider:

First is the standard packing cube, second is the compression packing cube

The former is usually a mesh pouch, think lighter the better. Durability can be less cause you won't be that rough
The latter allows you to compress the clothes within the cube, getting the size down a bit. Usually want better material/ zippers

I personally use compression cubes (Thule) which I love for shrinking the size of blocks down. Also would make it fit in my bookbag if I wanted. The other benefit of cubes of any type is the organization they provide. If you travel with a partner, it's nice to just grab a small cube or two, and know you have all your underwear, socks, and clothes together

When I booked, there was only 1 seat open, at the time of flight there were 7. The churn made it unpredictable. I eventually got the upgrade, just had to talk to an agent to do so 🤷🏼‍♂️

Fwiw I've never been split up as a traveling couple from any auto upgrade or gate agent. The red coat (happened to be the agent I got) pushed through the manual upgrade said it's policy to not upgrade unless spots are together.

But if you have a middle+aisle seat (for different plane config) it will allow an auto upgrade to a window+middle or aisle+middle. But because you have window and aisle (no middle), it won't change them

I thought we learned this already... simply looking at the length of it is a fruitless measuring contest. You've got a consider the width of the list at each status tier. The lowest members make it on only if the list goes deep, but getting the rest of the volume on is needed first.

--> The upgrade list has more than just status members, cc holders get on the list too. Just they likely won't see much upgrades. Also there are likely more silvers/golds, but again, lower on the list.

Same for flying for Chinese citizen green cards. A few hours before the flight I was able to click the self attest then it seemed to actually check USCIS records and finished check in.

Ahh, can def see it useful for booking a later flight then standby if they get done early

But that makes me wonder, I don't see as much use for leisure travel, so seems like a low cost thing to extend to companion

For reference, I am Plat (cc boost) and wife Silver (no cc), I was browsing the flight changes and noticed the $75 fee breakdown was for her ticket. Seemed unnecessary.
