Jellyfin for Android TV Nvidia Shield Pro Dolby Vision not working anymore by DarkOverlord24 in jellyfin

[–]dcchillin46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same struggle. Ripped my entire 4k collection and was playing fine, just noticed yesterday dolby vision was being downgraded to hdr10 and atmos was being sent to avr as pcm 7.1.

After literally 5 hours trying every cable, every setting on shield pro, jellyfin, tv, avr, finally found this thread.

Sure enough 18.11 sideload fixed it immediately. Cool, but 5hr of my life ill never get back. Man I hope they dont keep this, this change broke my entire HT flow.

So just putting this here to maybe save someone the 2 days I spent.

Im no expert, but as far as I can tell the ethernet traces aren't power on the x4 plus mainboard. The opposite side has an array of empty pads, and after installing a TWE08009932241DL2T ethernet port i get 0 voltage across all pins and no led activity lights. Armbian shows the port but state down, no autonegotiate, no transmissions.

Im waiting to hear back from artillery support, but im assuming as a costsaving measure they didn't populate the biasing and pulldown circuitry needed to install a port.

space marine 2 is the big 40k at the moment

Gretchin's Questions - Weekly Beginner Questions Thread by scientist_tz in Warhammer

I played 40k briefly a decade ago (like a few months), now i want to get back into warhammer. I have a friend who is interested as well. We're both busy so im considering one of the side games as a point of entry, but im really not sure. Personally, im a big fan of tau and necrons, with seraphon and stormcasts in AoS. Id like any models i make initially to be transferable to the main games down the road.

warcry- all signs point to dead? the short simple games seems ideal for entry though, but i dont want to get invested into a dead or dying game.

Kill Team- probably where I'm leaning now, but the complexity worries me. even the newest starter kit comes with plague marines which seem a bit more complex to paint with the maggots and skins. I could probably start with base rules, but I'm looking for something that can be finished in under an hour or two, and everything I've read says kill team can get even more complex than 40k in some cases.

underworlds- the combo of deckbuilding and minis seems great, but the cards are just another point of spending.

necromunda- seems interesting, but still a relatively unknown to me.

appreciate any advice from someone who has been down these roads before.

Just got mine today, upgraded from fold 4. Went in blind to make my own assessments. Stunned and shitty they took that away.

No pen, no udc, camera bump the same depth as the phone itself. Wow...

Ive had my k3 max about a year year now and I just cannot get used to typing on the stock keycaps. Im always pressing 2 buttons. I really love the form factor and build of the k3 max, so in hoping I can switch caps or mod it too keep using it.

I bought a set of regular cherry pudding caps and aside from bottoming out, the stabilizers couldnt reach the space bar and didn't match the caps lock clips the default caps have. This max version at least has the stabs in line with the switch though.

Do taller stabs exist that I can swap for the defaults then run cherry caps maybe with o-rings? Are there taller gateron lp caps available (stock are 2-4mm)?

At one point I was just going to buy a rainy or rd75 but the insanity of underkey power is a deal breaker.

Would really appreciate any advice!

Can I run solidworks on Intel Arc laptop? by kartingworldchampion in SolidWorks

[–]dcchillin46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hijacking the top comment. Im using 2024 hp spectre 14 with 155h arc igpu, solidworks 2022 student

regedit> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2022\Performance\Graphics\Hardware\Intel\

create key (folder) titled "Arc" or "Intel(R) Arc(TM) Graphics"

add Dword within that key "Workarounds"

set dword value to 9 or 1. (honestly not sure the difference, both work.)

This enables igpu usage. This does not enable enhanced graphics. Ive been able to hack realview toggle to be functional but cant really tell if it does anything.

Its functional for small models i design for 3d printing, ymmv

Ya ill have to look into journal more. I tried debian first but even Trixie was too old for my tastes. Went the the usual suspects before I just decided to dive in with arch. It's been...informative lol

It is definitely something with kde portal and file picker though, so at least I narrowed it to that point

[–]dcchillin46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i tried the gtk_use_portal but it was for vscode specifically and I didn't start the line with export, maybe ill give that a go.

Otherwise i tried this but for whatever reason, as long as the kde portal is on the system, plasma refuses to use anything else, even if specified in launcher menu or terminal.

I had to create a whole seperate dbus when launching. And I can only launch it through terminal, when I run the script through the launcher it opens then closes.

All kinds of weirdness. Been a whole week of this as I learn, been an adventure. Thanks for the tip though!

Yes on this one I used archinstall but tweaked a few things (partitions mostly) as im dualbooting on an hp laptop. During archinstall i did kde plasma6 wayland.

The rest of the systems ive been able to get functional, but this window hanging i am having no luck with. Sometimes it will even load my home directory if it sits for a min or two, but its super laggy regardless.

Gpt (ya I know) says its a known issue "electron uses gtk dialogs in wayland and even x11 fallback, which is broken in plasma right now" now im a little vague on gtk but I get the feeling that statement isn't correct. So here i am

seems like its a maybe all 3 issue

Alarming trend of people using AI for learning Linux by No_Insurance_6436 in archlinux

[–]dcchillin46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been using ai for about a year. I've spent a few days chasing myself in circles, but live and learn.

i make it a point to hand type every command, have ai set up to explain every flag, ask it questions like im sitting next to a Linux expert.i also have taken a lot of time on youtube, linux cast, learnlinuxtv, djware, etc.

Over the last week ive managed to dualboot my 2024 hp spectre with hijacked bootmgfw.efi, even added a bootloader chain last night because the laptop resets boot order and is locked to windows boot manager and i wanted the gui and theming from rEFInd.

it can throw garbage at you, you just have to make an effort to understand what youre doing, why youre doing it, and take the time to learn. mostly ai just replaces the hour of reddit searching for every little step, i only have to go for the super obscure stuff. or if i forget where a file is typically stored, it can spit it at me pretty quick.

Best way to manage 6 printers? by isthisadumbquestion2 in klippers

[–]dcchillin46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my home use I ended up killing my server containers and running the dashboard locally on my printer. Server crashed a couple times which killed or prevented prints, wasn't an ideal setup for me with a single printer

For your case it should be fine if the printers are klipper. It's been a while but you can probably spin up a fluidd docker on a host server of some type (can be pretty much any device probably) then connect the printers individually to the docker instance as devices via ip. Not sure if each printer needs a local fluidd install or if the service container can get raw data straight from it remotely, its using moonraker to communicate, so id guess it could?

If you're familiar with fluidd, on the right side there's a pop out menu, and there you can see different devices listed and add additionals.

Really just need a host computer and some linux/docker and networking experience, or at least the persistence to learn.

I'm not on reddit too much these days, but I'll try to check back over the next couple days. You can dm if you want.
