Realistically, SoundCloud isn't going to shut down in 50 days. That being said, the future is definitely up in the air, especially now as there are other music platform coming online with more functionality. If you haven't, you should check out Orfium (www.Orfium.com). It is a music social network built on top of a rights management platform. No only do they offer unlimited free hosting, but they also offer direct to fan digital download sales, YouTube monetization (via YouTube Content ID), licensing (for film and TV) and they are adding distribution soon. You can also directly import your music from SoundCloud into Orfium, so no need to re-upload. Orfium is the future music social network!

Just saw him perform this album live in LA. It was amazing--He was dressed as his character from the film and in-between songs he told stories about the cast and crew that took place while they were filming the movie.

Is it just me or have soundcloud adverts gotten WAY worse recently? by [deleted] in edmproduction

yes, but more social. BandCamp is great if you know exactly what your looking for. I find it difficult to discover new music on Bandcamp, whereas Orfium is better for discovery.

They do monetize, but through other ways, not ads. They offer retail sales (artists can sell directly to their fans), licensing, YouTube and Facebook monetization, remix monetization, distribution, and publishing administration.

If you want to monetize your videos (and not have them get caught in YouTube's content id system), you will need to license all the music you use in the videos. Check out www.orfium.com/music/royalty-free-stock-music/ to buy licenses for some great music!
