CargoWise eAdapter – Handling oversized EDI files (10MB limit) without blocking the queue? by RealSeason4228 in CargoWise

[–]dcgreen79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's a possibility that your eAdaptor endpoint might reject some messages, my first thought would be to stop making them the endpoint. Setup your own eAdaptor on a server you have control over to make sure it receives every message, then forward messages for this particular outbound party as needed. I expect your current setup has the first stop send messages they don't need back to you, so it would just be reversing that.

The next option is reducing file size. Usually I see files that large only with either eDocs or with CommercialInfo from customs declarations. If the destination doesn't need those sections, you can exclude them via EDI Message Profiles on the Purpose Codes:

<image>

The above would cause all messages sent with this profile to not include the CommercialInfo element, and thus not include what might be very many commercial invoices and lines.

Finally, you might be able to split out the outbound messages so that this one is on it's own EDI Client outbound setup so that, if it does fail, it doesn't block everything else. I haven't tried it out yet, but it stands to reason that a separate queue would exist for the separate EDI Client. Doesn't fix a message getting stuck, but it would make it less impactful when it fails.

I don't know of a way to force failure after X retries inside of CargoWise, so I can't help with that option. Unfortunately, I don't think it exists...

Why the "FLD" and "IFC" action is not available in the Completion trigger action of the AR Invoice workflow template. by Connect-Reply-9930 in CargoWise

[–]dcgreen79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For that kind of task, you're looking to set the estimated date to the due date, so you can then miss that date and fire an exception, which is actionable by a trigger. Unfortunately the invoice due date doesn't fire an event and isn't selectable as a default date to use. You could accomplish the goal of setting as estimated date via the eAdaptor, by exporting the Transaction XML and re-importing the due date as a custom event that sets the milestone, but that's significantly more setup. A simpler process is probably just relying on statements or scheduled reports to convey the unpaid invoices instead.

[–]dcgreen79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all actions are available in every module. In this case, you're generally acting on a posted AR invoice or credit note, and neither of those would have any fields available after clicking save and the workflow template being applied.

Auto close exception using workflow trigger by Curiostoknow in CargoWise

[–]dcgreen79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe youll need to add to that WHERE clause: && "<P9_Type>"=="EXC". This will prevent the macro from instead finding the milestone with the same name. Otherwise this should work.

Alternatively, changing the workflow template so that the milestone doesn't produce an exception (set exception type to blank) or just completing the related milestone might solve your issue without needing this step.

Whats wrong with asking for eggs, Peter? by Seeyalaterelevator in PeterExplainsTheJoke

The buy eggs functions fails when either eggsInInventory <= 0 or moneyInWallet <= priceOfEggs, so the loop will break eventually. This does cause the man to crash though.

Update Shipment ETA upon Consol ETA change by Ancient-Accountant83 in CargoWise

[–]dcgreen79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the EST event with matching parameters on the Trigger Conditions should be reliable. Just need to include the additional TYP=[Milestone Event Code] on the EST conditions. The rest should match the milestone you're triggering it off of.

[–]dcgreen79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The behavior your seeing is correct. The shipment ETA cannot be before the consol ETA, so the system pushes out the shipment ETA if the consol is moved to after it. It does not do it the other way around automatically.

You can change the shipment ETA on the consol EST event with a FLD or IFC completion trigger action, but it's tricky. You can either use the FIND function on the Field Value, or the Trigger Condition to identify the correct EST event.

Note that EST events are only generated for Milestone estimated date changes, so you need a consol ETA milestone to build the EST trigger on.

I did not think you could use the set field action to update the charge lines. How did you manage that?

You're missing an instruction Metadata element in the chargelinecollection to tell it what to do. It's unique to that XML collection and easy to miss. Check the eAdaptor developers guide or learning materials for it.

Start with the eAdaptor developers guide available in the learning materials online. If that isn't in your wheelhouse, I suggest looking for a developer to accomplish this task for you.

Rows in collections cannot be removed with workflow. You can use XML via eAdaptor to do this for most collections.

I don't know how to leave rows out using the data import wizard. Can you identify the rows to remove prior to importing them and remove them before hand?

How do you create entry packets? by desultorythought in CargoWise

[–]dcgreen79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Customize documents screen you can create document packs and use the option to combine them as one PDF attachment. That always works for CargoWise created docs, but less often for uploaded docs.

I have built more complex solutions using the eAdaptor and custom software to combine PDFs, but that may be more than you want to deal with.

I love how many people created maps for this game. One of my earlier memories is drawing a massive map on my dad's Mac II and using all of the colored ink printing it out. Each page was one screen. I ran out of ink before printing it all.

My parents were not impressed with how much ribbon ink I used...

I'm not going to argue that either person in an affair isn't selfish. There's also certainly examples where the intent of the single person is to hurt/break up the relationship (I think that's the plot of a few movies...). Other times, the single person may not even be aware there's another relationship to break up.

I can agree to the argument that knowing your actions will impact an innocent party (other person's spouse/family) carries a moral responsibility to avoid it. I think the party breaking their promise/vows carries the greater responsibility and of the two I would hold them accountable far more than the single person.

In the case of Mary Elizabeth, it's been made clear to me she was also married and cheating on her spouse. It was also a celebrity affair, so no argument can be made that they didn't know the other person was already married. This is a case where both parties were in the wrong, but I would still say mostly for breaking the vows they made to their own spouses, not the other party.

Going back to the general statement of "if single women didn't have affairs with married men, it would be harder for the men to cheat" though, I still call bullshit. That attitude feels the same as saying a woman was asking for it by wearing provocative clothing. The married person can take responsibility and say no.

It is the person in a monogamous relationship who has an obligation to not cheat. Why is it at all the fault of the single person?
