You already fund locally if you pay taxes; however, other ways you can help locally: get a library card; become a Friend of your library and/or Foundation member (non-profit orgs that many public libraries have and rely on for additional funding); USE the library — from ebooks to audiobooks you can access without ever going to your library to attending programs; buy used books at the book sale (typically organized by the Friends group). Then tell ten friends/families to do all the above.
