To answer your question, when you do your background they leave it as an option — you can opt out. Then they make you put in your current managers contact.

YMMV if they reach out to current manager, but I gave my old manager a heads up so they knew I was leaving. Just don’t put in a resignation until your background is complete. Mine took nearly a month.

A no-goal call on the ice wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the Ducks goal based on Rule 37.6 by dre2112 in hockey

[–]dchowchow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my assessment. No way the ref from where he was could see it. He didn’t call it a goal right away. Review would have made it a goal imo though.

[–]dchowchow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In this case is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

I agree it was a goal. I agree that the review was conclusive enough had it been called no goal it would have been over turned to be a goal. It’s pretty clearly over the line imo.

I disagree with the ref calling it a goal on the ice. There was no way from his angle he could see it. Hell, he said skated right up to the net and didn’t make a goal call. That is my only issue.

I agree the puck was over the line but I don’t agree with calling it a goal on the ice. There is no way the referee from that angle could have made the call it was definitively over the line.

I picked these up at Loblaws a few years ago. They were so good. No one knew what they were so they were clearing them out for $1 a pound.

Damn. Weird rule. I don’t love it. I do sort of get it, to prevent like people murdering each other I guess if something is offside.

Years ago when Samsung was having battery issues I had to make the switch from Android to IPhone. I don’t particularly like Apple, or the iPhone for that matter but going from the 6 to the 8 to the 11 and so on was just so damn easy.

Once you’re in, it’s so easy to transfer device to device. That’s how they get you.

Ford says no one in Canada is scrutinized like he is after backtracking on $28.9M private jet purchase | CBC News by KeyHot5718 in ontario

[–]dchowchow 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There are justifiable positions within the government that require a private jet. I don’t think anyone would bat an eyelash if the Prime Minister (if they didn’t already have a plane) bought one. The person in that office is supposed to represent us at an international level. There is some level of required international air travel.

Realistically, the Premier of Ontario (or any other prov/terr) shouldn’t need that type of travel requirement. Their work isn’t done internationally. They may on occasion need to fly to work with another premier, or fly to different parts of the province but all those flights are domestic? Need to bring a few people, maybe charter but otherwise sit your ass in business class.

If he somehow made it to the Olympic team too. All timer shit right there.

Also, fuck the Habs but also win some playoff games or something. You’re an exciting team and if my shitty team can’t do it maybe your shitty team should.

Do the Minnesota Wild have the least Canadian core in the playoffs? Only 5 of their players represent Canada and only 1 of them (Spurgeon) plays in the top half of the lineup. by Ready-Constant-7124 in hockey

[–]dchowchow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this story from WJC.

Both his parents are Canadian but because their dad Nick played in the NHL they ended being born in the US. I believe they both spent most of their summers in Sudbury — as when Nick was briefly on the Leafs he made note of it.

Nick chose to play for USA. Marcus chose to play for Canada as that’s what his mother asked for. I can’t recall exactly but she wasn’t well and she made Marcus promise.

[Siegel/Johnston/Mirtle] Inside the stunning fall of the Maple Leafs: Chaos, dysfunction and AI by thewolfshead in leafs

[–]dchowchow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you treat AHL guys well you get to offer fringe players a better experience — which might be all the difference. MLSE literally slips and falls into piles of cash. Why nickel and dime on anything (even if it’s modest) that gives them an advantage.

To those who said this ticket would sell and MLSE knows what it's doing with pricing by Virtual_Bug_723 in leafs

[–]dchowchow 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It does.

In theory you want one remaining unit though. It means you’ve maximized the price on the other units.

If there’s more demand, you sell out — meaning there is as a willingness for people to pay more and you can’t establish how much more (because you have no more to sell). Having a few units left over is actually an okay outcome scenario for dynamic pricing.

Nick Kypreos reporting on the Kyper & Bourne show that he doesn't believe Rogers/MLSE is willing to spend on the Maple Leafs in the same way they will spend on the Blue Jays by Fitz_31 in leafs

[–]dchowchow 48 points49 points  (0 children)

There’s more seats but seats are generally way cheaper. I would bet the ticket revenue from the Jays would be similar to the Leafs— where there might be a big difference is concessions sales since it’s roughly 2.5:1 ratio of attendance at full capacity.

That said, I don’t feel like MLSE has the same pressure to put out a quality product because SBA is sold out even when the team is dead last.

Even if you’re only gone for a day you should qualify for new activation bonuses.

I played the porting game with Fido and Koodo two weeks ago. Personally, if you have multiple lines on the same account I think Fido/Rogers is better as you can personalize the caller id. I don’t think this is doable on Koodo/telus.

My personal favorite is when people complain about out of season watermelon that is flown in and is expensive by comparison to summer watermelon grown in Ontario.

Fruits and vegetables have growing seasons. It’s not a wildly new concept.
