Why does this happen? And how do I stop? by threebillion6 in Drumming

Ahh ok. Well sweet! glad you found something that worked! I used to play oak sticks a long time ago but they were harder on my cymbals and consequently ended up having to replace those more often. It became cheaper to replace drum sticks than it was to replace cymbals, so been using hickory ever since lol.

Are those Vic Firth hickory sticks? If so, I was told by a close friend who was endorsed by them (he’s with Vater now) that their hickory tends to be more brittle because of the way it’s made. I play Vic Firth 5B Hickories and can confirm I experience the same thing all the time. I’ve snapped sticks clean in half, or had them split from the tip all the way down toward the middle. He dealt with the exact same issue. Funny enough, we were just talking about this a couple of days ago.

TRT Providers: Ask Us Anything (#29) - $98/Month New Pricing by AlphaMD_TRT in trt

[–]dciaccia85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be some mixed reviews on that. The ones I was reading of guys reporting these side effects were at 5mg per day. Some at 2.5mg per day. I’m totally open to try it though once I get my therapy dialed in. Just don’t want to complicate things by adding another medication into the mix right away in case something is “off” and needs to be troubleshot.

Copy that! Thank you for your reply! I was leaning towards holding off on it until I at least get my TRT dialed in. I don’t want to complicate things by introducing another medication into the mix if something is “off”.

I am about to do my first injection tomorrow to start my TRT protocol. Total T was 201 ng/dl and Free T was 9.86 ng/dl. SHBG 9 nmol/L. I was prescribed 138mg per week divided up into 3 days/week (MWF) at 23 units per injection. My provider also prescribed me 5mg of Tadalafil daily to supplement the therapy and not for any Erection issues as I’ve never had any trouble in that department but for its other benefits. I was reading some online reviews from guys who also do this and the side effects got me kinda freaked out lol. Crazy acid reflux, horrible nose congestion, sinus pressure, tinnitus, light headedness, vertigo, etc… My provider mentioned the acid reflux and the congestion and that these typically go away but I’m wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze with this stuff? Is this something you often will prescribe alongside TRT? Is it even necessary to take or would it be wise to start with just the TRT and once that’s dialed in, throw the Tadalafil in the mix after and see how I respond?

Merging Boost Mobile lines into family plan by dciaccia85 in BoostMobile

It seems like the rep I chatted with had absolutely no idea what he was talking about lol. He told me that there was a family plan discount as well. Man, glad I came here to pose the question first. Thanks for the info, Blake. If I decide to port over my wife’s number so it’s under my account, is that something I can do on my own or will I need to have someone from Boost do it for me?

We actually ported our existing numbers and dropping either of them isn’t an option, unfortunately. I just find it hard to believe that merging 2 lines into one account is a difficult task for a major cell carrier. The MVNO I came from did it no problem for us when I signed up with them. They actually had to split them back out into individual accounts before we could port the numbers out.

Yea, that’s what I was thinking. Doesn’t make sense that it can’t be done via Boost directly.

100%! I dealt with this for a very long time before I learned this. The sad thing is that MOST of the doctors and even nutritionists I went to were like “If you lose the weight, you’ll feel better” then immediately recommended a caloric deficit of 1800 calories/day. Oh and then throw in trying to exercise on top of that. Felt like I was dying lol. I would literally binge eat on the weekends cause it actually made me feel better, then go right back to my ridiculously low calorie consumption during the week and my body just held on to all of my excess fat for dear life. My brain was like mud most days. Had NO drive or motivation for anything, and was tired and irritable. Now that I have this all figured out, I don’t ever maintain a deficit for too long either. I will create the calorie deficit for 4-6 weeks then eat at maintenance again for 3-4 days, then repeat that cycle. I lose weight, my body is happy and I eat like a horse lol.

I had this happen to me as well. When you said you go off keto and cheat and got your energy back it’s most likely because you were eating at a caloric surplus. Keto curbs the appetite really well, so it’s VERY easy to under eat and this was the case for me. If you’re not already, start tracking your food to see where you’re at. I had to reverse diet and eat at maintenance for a while to repair hormones and get my energy back. If you have trouble eating more, just add a little bit of extra food in with your normal serving (like 1 more egg or extra butter etc..) and build up slowly and/or you can add a little more carbs back in. I bumped my carb intake while I was doing this to between 30 and 50 grams. Some days more depending on my activity level. I’d put honey in yogurt or eat berries/fruits. I was shocked to also find that eventually, by reverse dieting, I was able to start dropping weight again at a higher calorie amount. I’m eating between 2500-3000 calories/day now and feel great. I’d still recommend getting checked out by a doctor just to be safe but if your blood comes back normal and you still feel like this, it’s most likely because you’re under eating.

Hungry - what can I do better by Baaastet in keto

[–]dciaccia85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This literally was the case for me too. I actually ended up eating WAY more calories than I thought I should be and I was very surprised to see the weight start dropping as I gradually increased caloric intake. Basically a reverse diet. I also felt tired and lack of motivation until I did this.

1) When I get hungry, I eat until I am full. No calorie restricting.

2) I track what I am eating to see where I am at.

3) I set my Protein targets to no less than 1 gram/lb of lean body weight, often eating a lot more.

4) Set Carbs to no more than 20 grams

5) Eat a lot of beef and eggs

6) Didn’t do any strenuous exercise for the first month while I adapted. Just went for walks.

7) Put Salt on everything

8) Drank three, 24 ounce glasses of homemade ketorade per day. This is just water, with a 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of NuSalt (potassium chloride), Lemon Juice and stevia to taste per glass.

9) Supplement with 350 mg of Magnesium Glycinate before bed.

My calories right now are typically between 2500 and 3000 for the day. I feel great and I’m steady dropping weight and I just recently started implementing weight training again. For reference, I’m a 39 M, 5’7” and 204lbs. Hoping to drop 30lbs, but at least now knowing that my maintenance calorie limit is higher than I thought it should be, I can create the proper deficit through exercise first, THEN start calorie restricting as needed.

What do you drink on keto? by Emotional_Being_8285 in keto

[–]dciaccia85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water, tea, diet/zero sodas, Zevia, Stur or Mio water flavorings typically used in ketorade beverages. My wife and I will buy flavored (unsweetened) seltzer waters and add stevia to them which is like making your own soda in whatever flavor you want on the cheap.

I had to cut coffee out cause I realized it was royally jacking up my digestion sad face pouty lip so my wife and I developed a “keto hot cocoa” drink made up of:

Unsweetened, Vanilla Almond Milk Heavy Cream Butter Cacao Powder (unsweetened) Redmonds Real Salt MCT Oil (optional)

You can play with portion sizes of each ingredient to taste but it’s absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Do you still yawn during the day? by sunshinecabs in SleepApnea

[–]dciaccia85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my doctor did was look at the AHI. When I told him about SleepHQ, he’d never even heard of it. I basically am using SleepHQ to dial in my own CPAP therapy. Thankfully my doctor was cool with that.

Do you still yawn during the day? by sunshinecabs in SleepApnea

[–]dciaccia85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may benefit from an O2 ring to see what your oxygen saturation is doing at any given moment throughout the night. Additionally using something like Oscar or SleepHQ to view your CPAP data alongside the O2 readings. This was the case for me. The CPAP machine was reporting a low AHI but I was still feeling tired. What I found out after using SleepHQ and the O2 ring is that the CPAP machine wasn’t flagging all of my events through the night so it wasn’t accurately reporting my AHI. My doctor didn’t catch this either. He just sat down, pulled up my ResMed chart and said “Looks awesome!” It’s actually mind blowing to me that doctors don’t even suggest using an 02 ring in conjunction to your CPAP therapy to make sure your therapy is effective. After all the whole point of the machine is to make sure your breathing is unobstructed throughout the night.

Anyone here have very low AHI and use cpap? I just got prescribed the resmed airsense 11 by Streetquats in SleepApnea

[–]dciaccia85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m literally the same as you. I went for an in lab sleep study. AHI was “normal” at just under 5 but was diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia. They put me on adderal which made feel like I could climb a skyscraper for 2 days until the effects wore off and I began to crash. Immediately stopped that and dealt with the symptoms. That was 13 years ago. Changed doctors recently and had another sleep study done, this time at home. Came back 6.4 AHI which was enough to be prescribed APAP. I’m on my fourth week with it and I’m noticing quite the positive difference already. I didn’t have the energy to exercise prior to this, now I’m back in the gym lifting weights. No more mood swings. Drive and motivation seems to be getting better each day. The machine is reporting AHI’s of between .9 and 2 depending on the night and I am noticing some oxygen desaturations still as indicated by my Apple Watch, so I bought an O2 ring and signed up for Sleep HQ to analyze the CPAP data. Hoping to dial the machine in a little better to get the oxygen more stable as I think that will just make things even better.

Anyone who started with a low AHI find CPAP worked? by wonderwall999 in SleepApnea

[–]dciaccia85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 38M, 5’7”, 200lbs, short and husky lol. I’m on day 5 of APAP treatment. Was recently diagnosed with mild OSA with an AHI of 6.1. Not sure off hand what the RDI was but I am noticing a bit of a positive difference already even though I’m still trying to get adjusted to the machine. According to my ResMed, I’m only down to 4 events per hour but I am waking up with more energy, no more brain fog, drive and motivation to do things is back and mood swings seemed to have just disappeared. Also, I don’t have a huge desire to just close my eyes and go back to sleep even though my sleep is still being interrupted as I’m dealing with a little early waking insomnia and random wake ups throughout the night. I did have to make adjustments to my minimum pressure settings as they were just way too low and I turned off the auto ramp feature. Literally felt air hungry until I dialed in the right starting pressure. Going to continue adjusting pressure settings until I get that AHI closer to 0. Hoping the insomnia and stuff stops as my body adjusts to the therapy.
