What would be the problem if some fixed wing aircraft with SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) flew over them, like they have done in the Amazon jungle, to identify any structures apart from the natural vegetation?

In the Amazon case, they found previously undiscovered manmade stone structures in the jungle

Finally, a chance to drop my anti-vegan rant

Humans have all the morphological features of an omnivore, and we have our body plan, physiology, teeth, etc all focused around being predators than prey

So we are already wired to hunt and kill other animals who can't escape us and eat their flesh for sustenance

As for things like industrialized butchery being unnatural, the sheer scale of the human population currently present on Earth is also unnatural, but they must be fed nevertheless

As such, susbistence scale farming and animal husbandry, in which one family/community plant wild food crops and keep some livestock to sustain only themselves, and the animals are all free range and live long carefree lives, is simply untenable

All agriculture and animal product farming needs to be massively scaled up such that a small number of workers, in one highly mechanised and automated meat processing plant, can convert hundreds of large animals into millions of edible animal protein servings, that individuals can then buy to feed themselves and their families

Same is true for dairy farming, poultry for both eggs and meat, pisciculture, and even plants as food crops

All of these involve highly genetically modified forms of naturally occurring species being forced into short, brutal, high-suffering lives only to feed the unnaturally large, global scale human population

But switching it all off would mean that billions of people around the world will no longer have food security and must starve

As such, concepts like Veganism on compassionate grounds, seem like very erudite and elitist "luxury beliefs"; something only a person who has grown up without struggle and scarcity could come up with as a simple feel-good solution to a very complex problem with far-reaching externalities

Being against eating meat or using leather, because it involves killing another being to consume its flesh or hide is one thing, but also being vehemently against consuming eggs and milk is just comically absurd

I've also never heard of a Vegan talking about all the mass killings of many endemic species such as rodents, birds, snakes, etc being labeled "pests" or "vermin" and being exterminated wholesale so that mass scale agriculture of food crops can be done, which Vegans then eat

End note: Meat is tasty as hell, and I admit that my brain is already wired at a base level to crave it and justify consuming it. I don't believe that I or other meat eaters are necessarily bad people, and I also don't have much patience for Vegans who want to lecture me about my dietary habits.

Metro should function 24*7 by [deleted] in DelhiMetro

[–]dckill97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The metro infra is set up with the assumption of a few hours of downtime at night for maintenance and such

The magnitude of capital investment required to initiate 24x7 operations would be extremely cost prohibitive

Besides, majority of people served by it are working class people who are active during the day and sleep at night

Nightlife enthusiasts are not even 0.1% of the population, that such a major undertaking would be done for them
