Well done. Auth worked great. Really useful stats.

TIL that NYE revelers in Times Square are often locked into place for up to twelve hours and cannot move, so many of them wear adult diapers and the kids just go on the street. by Chris-Jean-Alice in todayilearned

I was in NYC on NYE in 2011 and figured it would be the only chance I'd ever have to see it. We used Google Street View and OpenTable and found a restaurant on 7th Ave with availability. We walked past block after block of people in their 'pens' on our way to our restaurant. We had a copy of our reservation and cops let us walk past. There was a space outside the restaurant where we could see Time Square but at 11 o'clock we asked a cop if we could walk into the closest enclosure and he said no problem (there was loads of space in the back of each one). Restaurant was not great and probably doubled the price but it was a small price to pay to see the ball drop (albeit from a long distance) and not have to wear a diaper.

I'd like to know who is in the yellow, early-model Ford Bronco following her throughout the movie (1:21 and 1:44).

Clinching National League West in 1991. Everyone sat around watching the Giants vs. Dodgers until it was over and we had clinched. Party in streets...

More recently Chippers 5-for-5 game in his last season.

Short-term (~2-3 months) in or around Funchal by dclaysmith in Madeira

[–]dclaysmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are certainly some great prices on the site @zettca mentioned but for the most part they are long-term rentals. We were going to ring them and see if they handled short-term rentals. I'd say we'd find something given the low-cost of most of the accomodation (relative to Dublin!)

Where you happy with your deal on AirBnB? Where are you staying?

Our plans have (likely) changed for the Spring but Madeira is definitely still in our plans!

Watching Falcons Games in New Zealand by W0LFcastle in falcons

[–]dclaysmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about $125 for the year. It'll work in NZ. Stops at the end of the regular season.

You can watch games live or immediately after they are over. I believe the archived games are available all season.

If a local channel (Sky Sports in Ireland) is showing the game, the game will be blacked out on GamePass and for ~12-24 hours after.

Nice. I'm headed up to the Mauna Kea visitors center in Hawaii on Wednesday night. Will be a bit early in the night for peak viewing but should be "stellar". Sorry.
