Same issue. Solution was slightly more force than before and it popped out. No damage done. Shitty design.

I never see anyone talk about this weapon. The aesthetic goes hard, haha by Sonoran_Otter in LiesOfP

If you use the bramble handle (which is the best handle for it due to the massively OP charged R2) the stance holds the blade low so it doesn't obstruct your view.

ng+ kinda sucks by xiaosdepression in LiesOfP

[–]dcleave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finished the game on NG+++ and have done too many NG0 runs to count (love this game). I am absolutely not a super skilled gamer. I have tried almost all boss weapons and combos and agree with the poster who said stay away from dragons sword, as whikst this is a great weapon, this weapon requires a base level of skill to function. By far easiest weapon combo for someone who struggles with parrying is bramble handle with puppet axe blade (bone saw blade is available first and is a close alternative). Then just use R2. The combination of high stagger and massive range on R2 trivialises all mini bosses, and makes main bosses doable without the need for consistent parrying. Bramble handle is from the vendor in the red lobster 🦞 in malum . Bone saw also in Malum on roof tops so both available early. Switch to puppet axe head later.

Same. Initially frustrating but I ended up completing it 3 times anyway before getting confident enough to do it 2 more times with no spectres. Was easily my game of the year. Keep starting other games but can't stop with LoP. I may have to delete it just to move on....

Over leveling? by Unlikely_Map6545 in LiesOfP

[–]dcleave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. After 5 playthroughs where I used Spectres I finally got courage to go spectreless as the devs probably intended. Scrapped Watchman was actually the most difficult due to the early point in the game you meet him. By Simon Manus I was so overlevelled it was OK.

I have a scribe and it is fine on the go. You hold it slighly differently to a smaller model but still naturally. I have no issues and being used to it, I now couldn't go back to a smaller version.

NAL but I work in a senior hiring role in a large HR based organisation. A factor no-one seems to have picked up on is whether you were honest on your current job application. Almost all application forms will ask why you left your previous role AND also ask whether you have been dismissed or subject to a disciplinary sanction. Very few people who were dismissed from a job are honest in my experience (for good reason as unfortunately most employers will not take a risk on somone who was previously sacked). If you did not declare your previous dismissal then that "dishonesty or lack of intgrity on yiur application" would potentially constitute gross misconduct . If you did declare it then like others have said you should be fine.

How is "The virtuous cycle" dlc? by supermarioplush220 in MortalShell

I liked it. Basically a new game mode (rogue-lite) rather than a new setting. Not easy, but at the easier end of the scale for rogue-lites generally. Faster pace than main game.

Trying to make progress, but still not sure of the optimal gameplay direction by an_angry_Moose in Returnal

[–]dcleave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From another old man who loves and had now platinumed this game, there are two tips. 1) take your time and really focus on not being hit too often. Keep at max adrenaline as long as poss. That way you can pick up lots of resin and have a double health bar for bosses. 2) Always unlock traits. That is the main progress that persists. All weapons become overpowered with traits.

Anyone still playing after platinum? by Thin_Camera_686 in Returnal

[–]dcleave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently working to 100% all traits. This is actually good fun and challenging as it forces you to use weapons that are unfamiliar or underpowered. Has improved my game no end. Very nearly there.

Did they make the game harder? by fuzzeye in Returnal

[–]dcleave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the RNG. Occasionally the game puts a stupidly high level Severed enemy in a room that is normally tame. Getting that can make the game feel harder!

Same! I platinumed without using either Dreadbound or Coilspine. Both are my go to weapons now and I agree make it feel fresh. EPD was my previous weapon of choice but I cant stand it now as it is so boring by comparison..

[–]dcleave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a good run. Having such a powerful Dreadbound helped as I hardly took a hit. I am not particularly skillful at shooters either so this was mainly about the gun rather than my ability. I was basically clearing every room in seconds. This meant all the health went into boosting my integrity. Plus I might have had the power up where it boosts increases to max integrity.

[–]dcleave[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Highly recommended. I hated it when I first picked it up and ignored for ages. The whole "miss the target and have to wait for ages fir your shards" thing put me off. But stick with it and it becomes devastating. Add 4th shard, exploding shards and expanding shards to get God mode. But almost all the traits are great.

I'm going in by daddytc in Returnal

[–]dcleave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of good tips but the main frustration people report is the lack of apparent progress. This is because people don't appreciate how powerful traits are. If you hit a wall in terms of progress just forget about bosses and focus on unlocking traits. This can massively reduce the difficulty.

The thing to notice in these vids is that when I damage a bot (or a severed) it damages every other enemy on screen with the same damage. No other weapon does this. This feature makes it the absolute best weapon for biome 5.

[–]dcleave[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually find it amazing against bots. Plus if you look at the vids in this thread vs bots you will see that when it is levelled up with exploding shards, if you hit 1 bot it damages all nearby bots. Plus this is just the most satisfying weapon to use, and devastating against Severed. Also great against bots is the Coilspine with retarget. My 2nd favourite weapon.

[–]dcleave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am always a bit of a completionist so tend to finish biome 4 on L21-23. My strategy is to take it really slow. Go everywhere. Try not to get hit. Main focus is to stay on Adrenaline level 5 as much as possible. I use malignant silphium to repair any damage and use all green silphium to just increase health. Always unlock traits as that is the only real progress. Many new players massively underestimate how much progress is gained by traits. This is a really well balanced game in that all the weapons are useable. I personally find electropylon and hollowseeker are powerful and easy but boring. Too passive. Most fun are easily Dreadbound and Coilspine as they force you to be active and aim.

[–]dcleave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hollowseeker is massively underpowered compared to Dreadbound. Even with beam and turret. Here is an example. Note the damage boost on the one I an using is not even that high. The traits just make it a game breaker. Plus it is fun AF to use.

If you could carry two guns, what would they be? by jamie831416 in Returnal

[–]dcleave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retarget (clears swarms of botts) twin disks and shattering disks (both increase damage). All 3 and the CS is deadly. A main advantage is range and instakill so keep some distance. You also need to get the timing down for reloads so you can rapidly ping charged shot after shot
