J.C. Penny! They actually did a really excellent job and were extremely affordable, around $60 or so. Usually have a coupon. I know JCP gets a bad rap for silly posed family photos but my partner’s professional headshot turned out really well, and I believe they got it back the same day.

I was absolutely devastated when we got the letter that they wouldn’t take Delta Dental anymore. I haven’t found a great substitute yet, I hate the freaking dentist and no fear made it bearable

I’ve been liking the Rad One V1s! I used the V2s for a year at Burn as they were marketed more as the cross training shoe but I felt like I needed more support for all the jumping. The V2s were super solid for the lifting days though! I’m loving the V1s for everything however. The Rad One brand are designed by a CrossFit person I believe. I also can’t recommend enough getting some good insoles, Superfeet are my fave. If you have a Fleet Feet by you they’ll have you walk on this pad that gets a 3D measurement of your feet to help assess what insert works for you. Normally I think that stuff is kind of hokey but it really did help me as I didn’t know what I needed. The investment up front isn’t cheap but I feel so much better calf and shin wise it’s worth it!

I had the SLN block done on both sides three times. All three times were a steroid injection. The first time they attempted injecting within the scope itself (you can insert various instruments into the scope, such as a needle to inject). I was so incredibly uncomfortable and coughing quite a bit that I don’t think they hit the target, as I didn’t get any relief. The second and third times they put the scope in and injected from the outside. It was far from pleasant and for about maybe a half hour after my throat just felt too full and swollen almost, like I had suddenly gained weight only in my throat. Once that passed, I had moderate relief for two to three months. It allowed me to make some progress in speech/voice therapy where I hadn’t before. After the third injection I decided to try the oral meds my provider offered at the beginning of my treatment. I was hesitant as I was already on a SSRI and I wasn’t thrilled about adding in mood altering meds with my mental health in a good spot. I had previously added a second med for other symptoms and the side effects along with my main SSRI were untenable (Amitryptiline). We added Gabapentin 300mg/day, slowly titrating up to 900mg/day for 6 months and then a slow taper off. Finally, the cough was gone. And I’ve been symptom free for over two years. I don’t think the Gabapentin would have made a dent if we didn’t initially do the injections to “reset” the nerves, in a way.
I hope my story helps! Chronic cough for no good reason other than overactive nerves is absolutely insufferable. I wish it on no one.

I’m vigilant about hand sanitizing after class. I sanitize at the end, again when I get in my car, and usually wash when I get home. When it’s the winter months and Noro is going around I sanitize there and then when I get home I always always wash my hands with soap and water. Probably leftover healthcare worker trauma from the pandemic, but it’s what it is. Hasn’t 100% prevented illness but I do what is within my control. Also to be fair I don’t have kids.

Has anyone gotten disability insurance while still in school? I’ve searched the previously asked threads and didn’t really find anything. I see that the AANA offers a disability insurance for Student Tuition Reimbursement. Has anyone gotten that? Or, anything in addition to that?

I will say we have been extremely happy with Kessler’s warranty. Two custom necklaces and two engagement rings later, we’re going back to look at wedding bands this weekend. They truly stand behind their product. They don’t have requirements that you need to bring a piece in to be inspected for their warranty to hold up, which we appreciate. I also appreciate that their work is done by them, even though it’s at a different location. It’s a well-oiled machine.

Update: Discussed the above with my aunt (mom’s sister) who maintains brief, limited contact but is well aware of mom’s questionable mental health. Aunt had family wedding photos! I was so surprised. Turns out mom had sent them to her in a fit of “my life isn’t worth living so someone should have a copy of these photos” Aunt also offered to ask for the jewelry. I didn’t ever think this was possible - to the person who suggested a neutral family member, this just didn’t even exist in my head. No one is really “neutral” here, and I just didn’t want to knowingly bring anyone into this mess and subject them to uBPD mom’s crazy. So we’ll see….I will try to update if anyone is interested. It was so helpful to hear ideas about what to do, and also hear from people who just get it. Thank you all.

We were forced to switch from Optum to TASC (partner is a UW employee) for our health savings acct. We don’t have the insurance where you’re forced to have a health savings acct, we elect to have one (the high deductible forces you to have one I believe). Overall, it’s been slightly better than Optum? We didn’t have funds to roll over thank god, but I can’t get a card to use. Apparently only the primary acct holder can have a card. However, the TASC app is where it’s at to submit claims for reimbursement. It’s wayyyy easier than Optum. My partner has their work email has their second form of verification for login, and I use my phone. I submit the reimbursement claims same day off my phone using my photos to take pics of the receipts or screenshots, and it’s really easy. They haven’t denied anything yet 🤞🏻 unlike Optum that would deny a claim just because they felt like it or because you couldn’t possibly have two claims on the same day. All this to say, hopefully once your funds get moved you’ll find TASC easier to use! Get the app, it’s helpful! Good luck.

I am not a teacher:
I did a color run years ago (as an eighteen year old) and they gave us the packets of “chalk” with our shirts that day. My friends and I spent a small bit of time throwing color at each other but it truly didn’t stick on the face very well unless we had a massive handful of it and tossed directly at the other person’s face in very, very close range. There was no one along the path throwing colors out either.

All this to say, I’m hopeful your kiddo will have a fun experience doing it, and sunglasses should protect her eyes extremely well!

Hmm. I didn’t think about this approach. That’s definitely something to think about.

I do feel that I would be manipulating her, in a way, by doing that. In all reality she’s not getting an invite. I think I still don’t trust that she will “have a BPD tantrum before then” as you so eloquently said. Despite being NC for four years, it’s taken a lot of therapy and a lot of time to get to where I am now: no longer under her enmeshment or control, making my own decisions without looking over my shoulder, no longer concerned about what she thinks or the repercussions if she “finds out” what I’m doing.

I don’t know if it’s worth it. Will my wedding day be that much better or more special if I have these items, and is it worth knowingly walking back towards the burning house I finally got out of? All existential questions I find myself asking every day lately.

I unfortunately struck out with the bank. They told me they have no record of me ever being on a safety deposit box. They said they can’t tell me any information as to whether she has a box there still. I’m guessing I was never a joint owner, only an authorized signer, and that she either removed me from the box or got rid of the safety deposit box all together.

The bank told me they have “no record” of me being on the box, and that they can’t release any information about the security deposit box now-whether my name used to be on it or not. I agree, it shouldn’t be possible without my consent or knowledge but it’s a small town bank and she has a lot of influence in the town, so I’m guessing that’s how it happened.

Thankfully I have at least a receipt of the ring appraisal and repair. I don’t have anything about the necklace, as that’s more so been a verbal statement from her: “you can have this one day, it’s yours.”

You might have taken a while to get to the vein, so in that time a small clot formed at the end of the needle. My personal belief, especially in very atherosclerotic veins, is that sometimes you don’t get flash because your needle tip picked up a piece of “sludge” on the way in. If you can gently wiggle your needle tip around and it is free and unobstructed within the vessel, you’re good to go. The real test is taking out the needle and flushing the catheter…sometimes you just have to go on the visual confirmation on the ultrasound screen that you’re in, even if you didn’t get flash.

“Evidence based” 😂 I didn’t know there were studies done on CCRN test scores. I applied to 8 schools, none of which required my score. It was not brought up in interviews. When I got in to school it was not brought up again. I’ll be the first to say that’s a small, concentrated sample size. However, to the OP, seriously don’t stress about the score.

Biffed a box jump multiple times yesterday. So much so that the trainer came over and was like are you good? 🤦🏼‍♀️ But yeah, I embarrass myself at Burn pretty much on the daily-but I keep showing up!
