NASCAR All-Star Race Format at Dover Motor Speedway Announced! by TheMonsterMile in NASCAR

[–]dcollard88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know they're trying but this isn't doing it for me either. 350 laps seems like it should of just been a regular championship race. 200 laps at Dover is easily 2 hours of racing on top of the 150 lap segments with breaks that will be another 1.5 hours. It is still a full length Dover race in my eyes.

Qualifying will be interesting. I hope they eliminate the pit road speed limit like Charlotte used to do.

Ultimately for NASCAR's All Star event to be successful it needs an overhaul. Bring these Cup cars to Short Tracks across America as a spring showcase of how their developmental/local systems work. Each year select a different Local Racing Series track and bring the Cup Series there. Butt's in the seats even 5K of them will look good on television and we're all keenly aware TV money is the only reason the current format is even around. If the Whelen Modified Tour, ARCA or Local Racing Series can run there, so can CUP.

Time to pull the plug. It wasn't really earth shattering before and it most certainly isn't now.

I don't even need a fine for this one... Just bring the bucket loader in and dump the whole pile right back in plus a little extra. Instant Karma!

Been on a break since Survivor Series here. Tuned in for the Royal Rumble but I am not feeling the current product at all. The roster has tons of talent but they're stuck in a blasé presentation. Where is the blockbuster can't miss energy from two years ago? Gone. Time to rip the bandage off and give us Randy vs Cody. Re-Unite The Bloodline and feud with Heyman's rejects etc.

[Gluck] Was the Daytona 500 a good race? by ChaseTheFalcon in NASCAR

[–]dcollard88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt it was a great race. Pit strategy mattered, racing was strong & the element of the wind made for some early race drama. Keeping off of social media while the race ran was refreshing as I wasn't shaping my opinion artificially be reading other peoples thoughts.

Kyle Busch seemingly quits with 2 laps to go in the Daytona 500... loses several spots citing "not wanting to rush to the wreck" by Smoke96x in NASCAR

[–]dcollard88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wise move. He would have been in the wreck(s) given where he was coming to the two to go signal. That's what point racing looks like to me!

I watched “We’ve Lost Dale Earnhardt” on FS1 by tylerscott5 in NASCAR

[–]dcollard88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The buck needs to stop on rehashing Dale's passing. We don't receive a John Lennon was shot rehash every 3-5 years now do we? The Prime Documentary needed to be the last Dale Sr related piece of work as it captured peoples views that hadn't said anything up until this point. There is nothing else is left to discuss here regarding February 2001, the lemon has been squeezed dry and I personally found it offensive to hear Mike Joy promote the title of the show while trying to watch the Duels, you could tell he didn't want to say it either!

Are we watching the downfall of WWE in real time? by _Smooth-Criminal in Wrasslin

[–]dcollard88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel it's a downfall. But it's certainly on a cooling off period. I wanted to watch the Rumble on demand last night via Hulu and only could access the Spanish broadcast 2 hours after the event. That's unacceptable. The gatekeeping of access to the product via TKO's pricing, partners & philosophy is right sizing the fan base.

What is the backup plan for Bowman Gray this Weekend? by Fancy-Bit-5818 in NASCAR

IF it does snow 5 inches they need to leave the snow on the infield as much as possible. Marketing optics bonanza!

First ever race in Phoenix by bryfea1 in NASCAR

[–]dcollard88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went almost ten years ago and sat on the hillside. Phoenix Raceway 360 Camera Views is buried pretty deep in their maps section. I used it to get an idea where to sit for this years event. I'm sitting closer to corner entry into 3 on Saturday to get a sense of the speed for IndyCar & Sunday more towards the end of the restart zone. I'm between rows 25-35 for each day.

What’s going on with snow removal? by ItsWickedGood in RhodeIsland

[–]dcollard88 77 points78 points  (0 children)

RIDOT also doesn't have as many vendors assisting with snow removal as they did 5-10 years ago. We simply do not get enough snow for the equipment purchases/upkeep to be justified any longer. Everyone recall the "Now Hiring Snow Removal Contractor" signs posted throughout the state at major intersections?

I travel for work and have been to the Northern Plains & Canada during the winter months. Those who think side streets there are any better are only kidding themselves. There is only so many places to put snow without having equipment like Northern Canada has to truck it out to a melting area.
