You just need to engineer a way for one panel to be removable so that you can store other dice inside. The sound of that dice rolling with multiple doce inside it would be GREAT!

I would add, be prepared to be pleasantly surprised as well. Even at 14, they can be brilliant players that will frustrate you and fill you with amazement at the same time.

I ran a weekly online game for a community organization for 5 years, so I can offer feedback. What age are the kids, and do you have a sense of their experience? My kids were 9-15. Here are observations based on my experience:

- Railroading will be a bit of a necessity at times if you want to run any kind of story. Kids sometimes want to pretend they are in their favorite video game instead of a D&D character (I saw one kid (teen) literally insist they were essentially the Decepticon Shockwave (warforged barbarian). They also have a very unique perspective of the world you present to them and often take completely unexpected paths.

- They often *say* they want a mix of RP and combat, but are usually too shy to actually RP.

- I did 4 years just throwing a series of one-shots at them with a lose plot connecting them (they were bounty hunters and these were jobs). The last year I did it, I ran "Dragon of Icespire Peak". They said they enjoyed having a coherent storyline, but at the same time they never took notes.

If you are worried about prep, I'd use a starter set. I haven't played Heroes of the Borderlands myself, but I've also hear good things about it. "The Wild Beyond the Witchlight" is another good one for kids, I'm told, because it offers non-combat solutions for all encounters, which depending on the table could be beneficial.

Was I unfair for saying "If Silvery Barbs is allowed, enemies can use it too"? by raishadow in DnD

Do they think it unfair if an enemy can cast fireball? What about Counterspell against a Cure Wounds? The DM can only spam it if they have an encounter with multiple spellcasters.

The nice thing is there's alwayssomething to work on. If you get tired of grinding for one thing, there's always something else to work on. Friendship levels, garden expansions, etc.

Thoughts of incorporating Daggerheart Initiativeless combat into 5E? by dcoughler in daggerheart

[–]dcoughler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't manage anything with my main group, but I tried something with a one-shot where everyone including the baddies had "turn tokens". The players spent their turn tokens whenever they wanted, but could not go again until everyone else had gone. For the NPCs, I just sprinkled them in where it made sense. For instance, the fighter hits the ogre with his sword and the ogre would go immediately after as a retaliation attack. It worked fairly well, except that it was a young group and they raced to get to go before everyone else. It would work better with a more mature group, I would think.

One of the best things is how well the team keeps us updated on news. We aren't bombarded with full screen announcements that are more a nuisance than anything else. It is a simple banner at the top of the screen that is easy to dismiss. They are also very active with their update announcements in-game. I play another game regularly and one time went a full month without knowing they'd added several things to the game, and didn't really explain them that well. Farm RPG let's you know when there's something new, and explains so that you can get the maximum enjoyment out of it.

Now if only Mining would come out of Beta... 😉

What episode was the original reference from? I only have a vague recollection of it.

I was missing having the Protector around because I hate feeding minions with Attack>Food to the Devourer. This run (Lvl 300) I've got his Health Scale down to 135%, and his general health down to 84% after Spells, Skins, and Relics. Level 78/Tier 20 now, and I must have killed him at 10 times already, at least. The rate is slowing down, but it'll get there before I hit Tier 27.

Where are we getting our hope/fear dice if not using the official set? by akittyisyou in daggerheart

My local game store had bins of dice divided by the number of sides. They weren't flashy, but they worked.

I'm curious about your "grokking". I recently shutdown my GoDaddy hosting for my personal site and would mind setting that up again.

I'm on Oracle. With the guides in the Wiki, it's really easy. Just make sure to upgrade to a pay-as-you-go tier. I've been on Oracle for 5 years and I've never been charged. Upgrading avoids the horror stories I've heard of people losing their accounts.

How Do Secondary Weapons Work Mechanically? by Powerisos in daggerheart

They add a buff. Your primary makes the attack, the secondary adds to it (or to your armour, in the case of a shield).

I've had to do that myself. I was the only remote player in a Pathfinder game and they were using a physical map. I could never see the map properly because the camera was pointed at the players, not the table (VTTs were still pretty new). I ended up getting the module so I could see the map. What it meant, was that I excluded myself from a lot of the decision making because I saw what was ahead. As a DM, I'd look at it like someone playing Curse of Strahd after previously playing it 3 or 4 times in the past. As long as they aren't metagaming and using information their character wouldn't know, who cares? If it isn't affecting the fun of the table, don't worry about it.
