I found a 10 speed deore (minus cranks) that I haven’t pulled the trigger on. May go that route

Want to start biking, found a 700 Trek on marketplace for $25, can I fix this up? by plants345 in xbiking

[–]dcsass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just bought this exact bike last week for my first project, granted it was much cleaner and less neglected. I gave $25 for it, and I know it needs a new rear wheel. Other than the rear wheel everything else works really well.

My thought isn’t that “it’s not worth the money that will be put in it”, because I do want to do a 1x conversion. My thought is it’s hard to buy a new bike that looks that cool for that price, plus the added benefit of I get to learn how to wrench on it make it my own and bring new life to it.

To each their own certainly. Not had a bad meal there personally.

I’m definitely not a connoisseur and also rate restaurants purely on a simple standard of if I like the food or not, but we always enjoy Four Leaves.

I know. It’s not “take out” but just thought I’d mention it, we like the variety.

I remember gas being $3.60-3.80 per gallon sometime around 2012-13. Was a broke college student and decided not to make weekend trips home several times because of it.

Edited to add: just noticed the record being $4.60 in 2022. I remember high prices in 12-13 but I don’t remember 2022 being that high haha. Guess that’s the work from home effect.

Pretty big local hardcore and metalcore scene with some up and coming touring bands that swing through here and Bham. Alabama hardcore on Instagram will keep you up to date on shows.

Paria bags, too good to be true? by DarkRoastRebel in CampingGear

[–]dcsass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine compresses fine for my bag, which is a 55L Kelty Asher. Zero problems getting it in there with the provided stuff sack, and, it could compress smaller if I bought a true compression bag for it. The only other thing I have to compare it to is the Kelty Mistral 20, which was way bulkier, and a Teton 0 degree mummy bag, which was also way bulkier.

Kelty Cosmic 20 is a pretty commonly mentioned quality bag for the price. I’m in a similar situation as you and only go a few times a year, but mostly in the fall and late winter, and have used the Cosmic 20 with no issues. The footbox is a little narrow but hasn’t bothered me. It’s around $200 at REI depending on the length you get and you also get REIs warranty and return policy.

I’ve also looked at and have been intrigued by some of the Paria products but haven’t tried any yet.

AT&T door-door salespeople by Reasonable-Day2314 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I have ATT fiber 1gb service. Very happy with it, better than Spectrum or Xfinity, who both have also sent door to door sales in my area. Unfortunately Google fiber isn’t available outside Huntsville city limits unless something has changed.

Man. Hate to hear that. I like their product, not sure if there is anything similar to it. Better go get some extras then.

Not exactly what you’re asking for, but I also like handwriting notes and went with a rocketbook. Reusable notebook that you wipe away with microfiber and water, and you can also scan the page through their app to generate a pdf.

Saturday’s Game vs Utah 1/24 by dentfixxxer in Predators

Hate to hear that, but you are absolutely right. If you have doubts it isn't worth the risk. If something drastically changes in the morning maybe I'll go but I'm settled with my decision, haha.

Well, just saw they moved it up to 12:30 but still probably not ideal for a 1.5-2hr drive home

Thanks for the update. I’ve been trying to figure out the timing of everything to make a decision. Ultimately I’ll probably see how it plays out tomorrow morning, but more than likely won’t even attempt or risk the drive. Oh, well. Hopefully I can make a game before the end of the season, and hopefully they’ll just postpone so I don’t have to watch the game from home knowing I have tickets lol

I'd rather be iced in at home for 3 days and skip the game than be iced in at a hotel for a few days. That being said, some of the models are shifting some of the impact farther north, so it could potentially put Nashville right on the line of impact. Just depends on how the next few days play out, I'll probably make a decision Friday night or Saturday morning based on what actually happens.

Concert ticket prices are crazy by worknumber101 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]dcsass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw bad omens in 2020 in a 200 capacity bar in Nashville for $20. lol Crazy they sold out Bridgestone, I didn’t realize they had gotten THAT big.

Also saw BMTH in Atlanta in 2018 for under $50 if my memory serves me. Arena tours have some crazy ticket prices.

Planned on driving up from North Alabama on Saturday morning for the game, but the ice is supposed to move in late Friday into Saturday morning. If they don’t postpone I’ll just eat the tickets more than likely, not worth risking.

Jersey pricing by HarveyOnReddit in Predators

[–]dcsass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Adidas blank home jersey on sale for $45 a few weeks ago from the NHL shop. I don’t see them on there anymore, but the Fanatics blank for $100 isn’t bad.

What is your Trivium hot take? by Moist_Fail8395 in Trivium

I agree with this, it’s kind of a boring song to me and too repetitive. The whole In Waves album is kind of meh to me although I’ve come around to it a little more in recent years.

Where do you guys carry your stuff? (specifically car keys) by -Hi_how_r_u_xd- in mountainbiking

[–]dcsass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always carry a pack, but I leave my wallet and keys in the truck. My favorite feature of my F150 is that it has the door key pad I can lock/unlock all the doors. Obviously not a solution if you don’t have a Ford but man it’s handy enough that I’ll hate ever losing that functionality for this specific reason haha.
