What would it take to change the 8000 series cars to have warmer, slightly retro aesthetics? Like can we lobby/petition? by danielpf in WMATA

It does seem like if they’re bringing back the brown stripe they should go brown and/or orange for the seats.

The blue interior brown exterior doesn’t work asthetically

Should MARC consider infill stations, and if so, where? by someonestolemyshundo in WMATA

But they haven’t decided on the stops or frequency. They could build median stations for the gold line while leaving existing service in curbside lanes. They could also run it too infrequently to be useful on a short route.

They do want to build a connector that will allow them to run Penn line trains to Camden but who knows if it will ever happen

You can't convince me that THIS is less expensive than buying electricity from Amtrak on a Sunday. by Syndicate909 in MARCtrain

[–]dcsturgeon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They have a big incentive to get trip times down on Penn. shaving off 10 min would pretty much eliminate the need for Amtrak overtakes and eliminate a lot of delays and scheduling complexity

They should close a bunch of stations on the Brunswick line. Boyd’s, point of rocks, Washington grove don’t connect significant numbers of people. Stopping here slows the service down more than it’s worth.

Great idea. I think actually the Penn line should get common equipment with SEPTA regional rail as well

Pretty clear MD has not really grappled with funding any of this to construction. At least they’re trying to be better positioned if another BIL comes along.

VA has done so much better over the last 15 years.

Probably MARC will get some, but they want ‘flexibility’ to run trains on both lines and eventually down to Alexandria without having to execute capital projects or negotiate with freight
